Privacy Policy
Spoilr ("Spoilr," "we," "us," or "our") is operated by Revenant LLC, a Minnesota limited liability company. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Spoilr mobile app and website (collectively, the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Spoilr, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who we are
Revenant LLC · Minnesota, USA · Contact: contact@spoilr.xyz
2. Information we collect
We only collect what we need to run Spoilr. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising.
Information you give us
- Account information — your email address, and optionally a display name, when you create an account.
- Your content — messages you send to the assistant, the titles you add to your list, your progress (episode/chapter/quest), episode ratings, saved feed items, and bug reports you submit.
Information we collect automatically
- A device identifier — an anonymous identifier we generate to understand product usage. This is not Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA); Spoilr does not request advertising tracking.
- Usage data — which screens you view and features you use, so we can improve the app. Personal fields are removed before this data is stored.
- Basic performance data — the endpoint, status, and timing of network requests. We do not log request contents or authentication details.
Information we do NOT collect
We do not collect your precise or coarse location, photos, contacts, calendars, health or financial information, microphone/audio on iOS, or crash-reporter data. We do not use any advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.
3. How we use your information
- Provide the Service — authenticate you, deliver spoiler-gated answers, sync your list and progress, and manage your subscription;
- Personalize your experience — gate content to where you are in a story (content personalization, not advertising);
- Analyze and improve the Service;
- Communicate with you — account, security, and support messages.
We do not use your information for third-party advertising, and we do not sell or rent it.
4. AI processing of your messages
Spoilr uses third-party AI providers to generate answers and power search:
- Anthropic (Claude) processes the messages you send to the assistant to generate responses.
- OpenAI processes text to create search embeddings used for spoiler-safe lookups.
Your messages are sent to these providers solely to operate the Service. Per their terms with us, your content is not used to train their AI models. You consent to this processing in the app before you begin chatting. Do not share information in chat you would not want processed by these providers.
5. How we share information
We share information only with service providers who help us run Spoilr, under contracts that limit their use of it:
- Anthropic and OpenAI — AI processing (Section 4);
- Hosting and infrastructure (e.g., Railway, Cloudflare) — to operate our servers and deliver content;
- Apple — subscription purchases on iOS are processed by Apple via In-App Purchase; we receive your subscription status, never your payment-card details.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or in connection with a business transfer. We will never sell your personal information.
6. Subscriptions and payments
Paid subscriptions on iOS are processed by Apple through In-App Purchase. Apple handles your payment information; Spoilr never sees your card or billing details. We receive only your subscription tier and status to unlock features. Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings.
7. Data retention
We keep your account information and content while your account is active. When you delete your account (Section 8), we delete your account record and associated content from our active systems. Backups and logs that may contain limited data are rotated on a regular schedule. We may retain limited information where required by law or for legitimate business records.
8. Your choices and rights
- Access and update — view and edit your profile in the app.
- Delete your account — Spoilr includes an in-app Delete Account option (Settings/Profile) that removes your account and content from our active systems. You do not need to email us to delete.
- Marketing — Spoilr does not run a marketing email program; transactional messages are part of the Service.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (for example, under the California Consumer Privacy Act or the EU/UK GDPR), such as the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to lodge a complaint with a regulator. To exercise these rights, contact contact@spoilr.xyz. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
9. Children's privacy
Spoilr is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact contact@spoilr.xyz and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International users
Spoilr is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be processed in the U.S. and other countries where our providers operate, which may have different data-protection laws than your country.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice in the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
