Attack on Titan Episode 26: Beast Titan

After the capture of a Titan spy in Stohess District, the Scout Regiment restrains a crystal containing the individual. As they move it, soldiers notice a large Titan peering from an exposed section of Wall Sina, where the Female Titan had previously attempted to scale the wall. Section Commander Hange Zoë is shocked by the sight. Pastor Nick, appearing fatigued, warns Hange and the others to keep the Titan out of sunlight. Commander Erwin Smith is informed of the Scouts' efforts to cover the Titan in the Wall. Elsewhere, two members of the Military Police, Marlo and Hitch, begin clearing wreckage from the battle, expressing bitterness over the loss of innocent lives.

On top of Wall Sina, Hange and the Scouts finish covering the exposed Titan. Hange questions Pastor Nick about his knowledge of the Titan and why his followers never spoke of it. Nick demands restitution for damages to his church, ignoring Hange's questions. Hange, losing their temper, holds Nick over the edge of the Wall, reminding him of the sacrifices made by the Scouts for truth while his church remained silent. Nick insists he and his followers will not answer questions and encourages Hange to let him fall. Hange spares him, claiming their anger was not serious. Hange's assistant joins them as Hange reflects on how long it has been since they felt such terror. Suddenly, a bell rings in Stohess as a Scout arrives with urgent news for Commander Erwin.

Twelve hours earlier, new recruits of the Scout Regiment are under watch at an outpost in southern Wall Rose. Sasha and Conny express boredom, suggesting they sneak to their home villages. Reiner takes their suggestion seriously, offering to help them escape and noting the unusual situation of being in plainclothes without weapons while superiors are in uniform with ODM gear. Sasha jolts awake at the sound of thuds. As Sasha explains herself, Section Commander Miche Zacharius detects Titans in the distance. He immediately sends a Scout named Tomas to alert Commander Erwin in Stohess. Nanaba joins the recruits below to inform them of the situation. While the recruits ready their horses, Nanaba joins Miche on the rooftops, expressing a loss of hope at the thought of Wall Rose being breached without a clear cause. Miche comforts her, stating that as long as they fight, their battle is not lost.

The Scouts ride out from the outpost. Miche orders his squad to split into four teams to spread word of the invasion. He asks if anyone knows the terrain, and Sasha states she knows the northern terrain near her village. She also speaks for Conny's knowledge, but Conny realizes the Titans are coming from his own village. He offers to join the south team but requests to visit his village after spreading the news, which Miche allows. Reiner chooses to join Conny and asks Bertholdt to join him. After some hesitation, Bertholdt agrees. Nanaba reminds the recruits of their dire situation and encourages them to give their mission their all. At the edge of a distant forest, the Scouts notice Titans running erratically towards them. Miche breaks away from the group, placing his subordinate Gelgar in command of the southern team. The other Scouts worry for Miche, but Gelgar insists Miche's skill is second only to Captain Levi. The Scouts continue their route as Miche attacks the Titans.

In Stohess, Eren awakens from a memory of his mother scolding him for fighting and telling him to show restraint for Mikasa. Eren gets up and notices Mikasa asleep at his bedside. She stirs awake as her scarf slips, which Eren picks up for her. He suggests finding her a new one when possible. Suddenly, Armin bursts in to inform them of the Titan invasion in Wall Rose. As the Scouts in Stohess prepare to ride out, Levi visits Erwin. Erwin asks if Levi is fit to join, and Levi states he has little choice. A Scout comments on the wise decision to have Miche watch the recruits, and Erwin expresses hope.

Earlier in Wall Rose, Miche kills the fifth of nine Titans in a group. Believing he has bought enough time, he calls for his horse. An Abnormal Titan covered in fur catches his attention, causing him to worry. As his horse approaches, the furry Titan grabs it and sets its sights on Miche. Before Miche can react, the furry Titan throws the horse at him with precision, sending Miche falling off the rooftop. A large-eyed Titan catches him, crushing his legs in its bite. Miche screams in pain, but the furry Titan tells the other Titan to wait.

As ordered, the Titan holds Miche steady while the furry Titan kneels to face him. The Titan bites Miche's legs a second time, and the furry Titan appears irritated by its disobedience. It crushes the Titan's head, and Miche slips to the ground. Staring at the talking Titan in horror, Miche is unable to speak. As blood evaporates from the furry Titan's hand, it asks Miche the name of his equipment, but Miche is too terrified to answer. The furry Titan notes Miche's silence, as well as the swords, remarking that it is fascinating.

The furry Titan muses on Miche's silence, having thought they spoke the same language. Unwilling to wait for an answer, the furry Titan reaches down and takes Miche's ODM gear, leaving him as it departs, seemingly unharmed. Miche panics but regains some hope, remembering his words to Nanaba that morning. He lets out a battle cry, but the furry Titan turns to the three remaining Titans and tells them they have permission to move again. In horror, Miche desperately tries to escape, but he is caught as all three Titans begin to eat into his flesh simultaneously. Hearing Miche's cries for help, the furry Titan remarks that he was right about the Scout's ability to speak. The furry Titan leaves the scene, commenting on the creativity of humanity's gear. Miche continues to scream in pain and terror as the Titans eat him alive until his body is torn to pieces.
