Full recap
Grisha Jaeger lies broken and disillusioned after the collapse of his plans, but Eren Kruger forces him to keep moving forward and explains that Grisha must enter the Walls and seize the Founding Titan from the royal family inside them.
Kruger reveals that he is one of the Titan shifters and that his Titan is called the **Attack Titan**. He also tells Grisha that the power he is about to inherit will continue only if it is passed on before the shifter dies, and he explains that the Titan power can reappear in a newborn subject of Ymir if it is not inherited by someone else.
As the people guarding the internment camp are dead, Kruger transforms, wipes out the remaining Marleyan authorities, and then returns to his human form. He climbs back up the wall, frees Grisha from his bonds, and hands him the final mission: infiltrate the Walls, retake the Founding Titan, and continue the struggle for Eldian freedom.
In the present, Eren and the others are brought in for an official briefing about what was found in the basement. Hange explains the danger of the outside world and says the people beyond the Walls may now have to be treated as enemies because they fear the Subjects of Ymir.
Eren also realizes that the time left in his own life and Armin’s has been shortened by the **Curse of Ymir**, since inheriting one of the Nine Titans means only about thirteen years remain. During the same discussion, Eren figures out why he was able to use the Founding Titan’s power earlier: he had been in contact with a Titan of royal blood at the time.
Historia is shown reading a letter left by Ymir, and the contents of that letter upset her deeply. Levi and Hange later appear with more information from the basement, while the episode closes on the growing sense that the world outside the Walls is far larger and more hostile than the characters had believed.
