Breaking Bad Episode 17: Over

After receiving news that his lung cancer tumor has shrunk significantly, **Walter White** declares he is out of the drug trade because he no longer needs money for treatment, and he tells **Jesse Pinkman** the news. Walter attempts to reintegrate into "normal" family life, throwing himself into home repairs and spending time with **Skyler** and **Walt Jr.**.

At a party celebrating Walt's remission, Walt pours an excessive amount of **tequila** for Walt Jr. from a bottle he and **Hank Schrader** are drinking. When Hank takes the bottle away, Walt angrily demands it back, leading to a tense standoff that ends when Walt Jr. vomits into the pool. The next day, Skyler refuses to answer Walt's calls as he tries to apologize. To distract himself, Walt uses his drug money to buy home improvement supplies, replacing the family's **water heater** and creating a **crawl space** in the basement to fix a rot problem.

At work, Skyler confides in her boss, **Ted Beneke**, about Walt's condition. When Ted notices she is staying late, she breaks down, admitting she doesn't feel optimistic because she knows Walt still has cancer. Ted, who cared for his dying father, understands, and they tenderly hold hands. The next day, as Ted leaves, Skyler creates a distraction to spend more time with him.

Meanwhile, Jesse clumsily makes breakfast for his girlfriend, **Jane Margolis**, and they plan to spend the day together. Jane admires Jesse's drawings of superheroes, noting they all look like him. They hear knocking on Jane's door, which turns out to be her father, **Donald Margolis**, the owner of the property. Later, Jane tells Jesse she was protecting him from her overbearing father, but Jesse is upset that she does not take their relationship seriously.

At a hardware store, Walt notices a young man buying materials to make drugs and offers advice on ingredients, causing the man to run away. Outside in the parking lot, Walt sees the young man and his partner using an **RV**, leading Walt to realize he is being copied by a new competitor.
