The tape continues, with Kira demanding support by demonstrating his abilities and instructing police to deliver a second tape to the station; Ukita grabs it and races to Sakura TV alone despite L's orders to stay put, only to collapse dead from a heart attack at the entrance after confronting a security guard.

Soichiro bursts into the control room at gunpoint, forcing the manager to stop the broadcast despite threats of mass deaths; no further casualties occur, and he reunites with the impressed yet grieving Task Force.

L analyzes that the killer likely possesses the ability to see names and lifespans, as evidenced by the killings without prior knowledge; meanwhile, a pair of binoculars sits on a table by a window in an empty room.
