Dexter Episode 50: Hello, Bandit

Dexter brings Astor and Cody to live temporarily in his apartment after the trauma in their home, but the arrangement is strained because Astor is angry at him and blames him for Rita’s death. Dexter is interviewed by the FBI, and they accept that he has an alibi because he was at Arthur’s house when Rita was killed.

Trying to help move the children’s things, Dexter rents a van and notices blood inside it. That discovery pulls him into investigating the van’s last renter, Boyd Fowler, who works in sanitation and animal cleanup. Dexter uses a fake roadkill call to get Boyd to show up, then later tracks him further by sneaking around his house and noticing a locked attic door. When Boyd returns, Dexter is forced to flee, but he follows Boyd afterward and sees him dump a barrel into a marsh.

Back at home, the family tension worsens. Astor and Cody skip school and go back to their old house, where they stare at the bathtub where their mother was murdered, showing how badly the trauma is affecting them. Dexter eventually decides the children should live with their grandparents outside the city, believing that will be better for them.

Meanwhile, Miami Metro investigates a grisly murder in a Venezuelan neighborhood: a woman is found beheaded, with candles placed around the body. Officer Cira Manzon believes the killing is connected to a “Santa Muerte” cult, while the department continues looking into the broader case.

Debra stays with Quinn because there isn’t enough room at her place, and she makes it clear their hookup meant nothing to her. Quinn also keeps quietly pursuing his own investigation into the “Kyle Butler” name and the sketches from people who saw him, though that thread remains unresolved by the end of the episode.

That night, Dexter checks the barrel he saw dumped in the marsh and discovers a woman’s body inside, confirming that Boyd is connected to something far more sinister than the bloodstain in the rental van.
