Dexter Episode 52: Beauty and the Beast

Dexter finds himself forced to **protect the woman** who witnessed him kill Boyd Fowler instead of eliminating her, while Debra pushes harder on the Santa Muerte case and Quinn’s pursuit of Dexter’s possible other identity gets him into trouble.

Dexter tends to the injured, terrified woman in Boyd Fowler’s kill room and sedates her when she panics, because she has seen him kill Boyd and he cannot simply let her go. When Debra calls him to the Santa Muerte crime scene, Dexter uses the opportunity to collect the woman’s fingerprints so he can identify her. The prints come back as **Lumen Pierce**, and Dexter later learns she has no criminal record and was never reported missing.

Dexter tries to keep Lumen alive and under control, bringing her medication he steals from the station, but she remains frightened and distrustful. He also has to deal with practical problems at home when Harrison’s babysitter, Sonya, quits because she does not believe Dexter’s explanations for arriving home so late. Dexter goes to see Sonya and convinces her to stay on as Harrison’s nanny.

Meanwhile, Debra investigates the Santa Muerte murders and Miami Metro identifies **Carlos Fuentes** as a suspect. The team raids Fuentes’s house, but he kills a hostage by slicing the hostage’s throat and escapes, leaving Debra shaken.

Quinn continues following leads connected to the Mitchell family and tries to get information about “Kyle Butler” by approaching Jonah with a photo of Dexter. The FBI intercepts him, arrests him, and he is later suspended/unpaid leave is imposed by LaGuerta after his unauthorized behavior.

Back with Dexter, Lumen tries to flee, attacks him, and gets away briefly in a car, but she becomes panicked again when she sees male passengers and Dexter is able to recover her. To prove he is not going to hurt her, Dexter takes her to the marsh where the other women had been kept on barrels. He then allows her to stab him with a knife so she can see that he is willing to take the risk to earn her trust.

As Dexter tends to his wound, Lumen finally reveals that Boyd was not the only man involved in abusing her and the other women.
