Dexter Episode 56: Take It!

Dexter goes undercover at Jordan Chase’s self-help seminar to get close to Cole Harmon, and Chase later invites him to his suite, assuming Dexter is another attendee dealing with Rita’s death. Dexter plays along and agrees to come back for another seminar, while Miami Metro is caught in a PR mess after the Club Mayan shooting and LaGuerta tries to shift blame onto Cira, which angers Debra.

Lumen gets an unexpected call from her ex-fiancé, who wants to see her, and she reluctantly agrees to meet him. Around the same time, she goes to retrieve Dexter’s supplies but is followed by Liddy, who is becoming increasingly suspicious. Lumen later appears at the hotel to help Dexter set up the kill room, but the plan is interrupted when Harmon brings a woman back to his room, forcing them to wait.

At the seminar, Chase pressures Dexter into speaking publicly about finding Rita dead, and Dexter gives a carefully managed account in front of the group. While this is happening, Lumen encounters Harmon, panics, and runs back to her room. Harmon pursues her, but Dexter knocks him unconscious before he can get to her.

Dexter and Lumen bring Harmon to the kill room, where he refuses to identify the other men in the photograph. With Lumen’s approval, Dexter kills him. Afterward, Dexter tells Lumen about his own past and explains how his darkness began after his mother’s death.

As they leave the hotel carrying Harmon’s dismembered remains, Dexter runs into Chase and hears him use a phrase that makes Dexter realize Chase was also one of Lumen’s captors. Later that night, Dexter and Lumen dump the body parts, unaware that Liddy is photographing them from a distance.
