FROM Episode 14: This Way Gone

Boyd’s worsening physical condition drives much of the episode, and his return to town after the events beneath the forest puts him in conflict with Kenny, who still does not know the full truth about Sara. At the same time, Jim develops a disturbing new theory about the town, while Randall’s behavior at Colony House creates fresh tension and gets him moved out of the house.

The episode opens with a flashback that shows Kristi helping Tian-Chen and Kenny bring Bing-Qian into the clinic so he can stay there. Bing-Qian is unhappy about being moved, especially because his family is not coming with him. Kenny then goes to get his things, and Boyd stops him to say he heard there had been an incident.

In the present, Kenny finds Boyd and brings him to Sara. Sara speaks to Boyd alone and tells him she followed him into the tree and ended up back at the church. She also says she cannot live in the town again. Boyd then talks to Kenny privately and tries to explain that Sara is somehow connected to the town and that something is speaking to her. Kenny is still furious and wants Sara punished in the box.

Boyd’s condition continues to worsen, and while he is arguing with Kenny he collapses. He later has a vision of Father Khatri, who tells him not to reveal to Kenny that Sara was involved in his father’s death. Boyd is left trapped between protecting Sara’s secret and managing Kenny’s anger.

Julie takes Ethan to Colony House to see Victor, but Victor is still upset with Ethan over letting Jade into his room. The visit is tense rather than comforting, and it shows that Victor is still holding onto his resentment.

Donna deals with the newcomers at Colony House and lays down the rules for Randall. Randall is combative, rude, and disruptive, and after he causes more trouble by lashing out at another resident, Donna decides he can no longer stay there. She sends him to live on the bus instead.

Jade finds Bakta drinking alone at the bar, and they talk about guilt and blame. Bakta feels responsible for the bus ending up in the town, while Jade tries to reassure her that the situation is not her fault. Their conversation gives both of them a moment of shared frustration about being trapped.

Tabitha looks for Jim and finds him watching the bus people go through their belongings. Jim then shares his new theory about the town, linking together the strange radio signal, the wires that seem to go nowhere, and the possibility that the place is some kind of experiment being observed from outside. Tabitha does not tell him everything she has seen, including her visions of the children.

The episode ends with Kenny confronting Boyd more directly about Sara. After learning enough to understand that Boyd has been hiding the truth from him, Kenny finally reaches his breaking point, and the conflict between them deepens rather than being resolved.
