Full recap
Fatima’s condition becomes the episode’s central crisis: she admits disturbing cravings to Kristi, insists the pregnancy is real, and then spirals further when the people around her cannot give her a satisfying explanation.
Fatima tells Kristi about her cravings and asks what is happening to her. Kristi says that, if they were anywhere else, she would suspect psychosomatic pregnancy, while Marielle tries to reassure her that nobody is dismissing her as hysterical and that they are not ruling anything out. Kristi also acknowledges that Fatima may actually have been pregnant. Fatima reacts angrily, insisting that she is still pregnant and can feel something inside her. Kristi offers to let Fatima and Ellis stay the night, but Fatima storms out.
Boyd is brought into the situation, and Kristi confronts him for not telling her sooner about Fatima’s symptoms. Boyd asks for help, but Kristi says she does not know how to help, which infuriates Boyd.
Downstairs, Tillie and Elgin talk about a gift Elgin has made for Fatima. After Tillie leaves, Elgin’s Polaroid camera suddenly prints a photo on its own, unsettling him.
Back upstairs, Marielle hooks Fatima up to an IV. Ellis arrives after Marielle leaves, and Fatima breaks down, asking why nobody is listening to her. She tells Ellis that whatever is growing inside her is getting stronger, and that her cravings and anger are intensifying. She tearfully says that if there is no baby, then she must be changing instead.
Elsewhere, Julie joins Randall while he is trying to spend some time with her and find a little normalcy, even though he says he wants to be alone.
In another storyline, Elgin follows the clues he has been receiving and goes underground. He finds doors at the back that open into what appears to be an empty cabinet, but after he closes the cabinet doors he hears knocking. Moving the cabinet reveals a hidden room with an overturned cot.
The episode ends with the growing sense that several separate threads are beginning to converge, while Fatima’s condition, Elgin’s discovery, and the strange things happening around the town all become more alarming.
