Game of Thrones Episode 47: The Gift

Jon Snow leaves Castle Black with Tormund Giantsbane and a small group to travel north and seek an alliance with the wildlings. Before he goes, Samwell gives Jon a dragonglass dagger, and Jon leaves Alliser Thorne in charge at Castle Black.

At Castle Black, Sam and Gilly visit Maester Aemon, who dies during the night. Later, two brothers attack Gilly; Sam tries to stop them, but they badly beat him until Ghost scares the men away. Gilly then cares for Sam, and the two finally become lovers.

In Winterfell, Sansa asks Theon Greyjoy for help escaping from Ramsay, but Theon betrays her and reports her plan. Ramsay responds by killing and flaying the maid who helped Sansa learn the signal, then forces Sansa to look at the body. During this confrontation, Sansa learns that Jon has become Lord Commander, and she secretly takes a corkscrew.

Stannis and his army are trapped at their camp by a snowstorm. Davos urges him to return to Castle Black and wait out the winter, but Stannis refuses. Melisandre says she has seen a vision of his victory in the snow and asks permission to sacrifice Shireen to the Lord of Light, but Stannis refuses her request.

In Meereen, Jorah Mormont and Tyrion Lannister are sold to slavers and end up fighting in the pits before Daenerys. Jorah reveals himself in the arena and says he has brought her a gift; Tyrion then steps forward and identifies himself, astonishing Daenerys.

In the cells at Dorne, Tyene Sand taunts Bronn by exposing herself to him, then reveals that the wound she gave him was coated with a slow-acting poison. She explains that the poison will work faster if his heart rate rises and offers the antidote only if he admits that she is the most beautiful woman in the world.

In King’s Landing, the High Sparrow keeps Margaery and Loras imprisoned and insists that the Faith’s laws apply equally to everyone. Olenna confronts Littlefinger for giving Cersei information that implicated Loras, and Littlefinger protects himself by saying he can also implicate Cersei in King Joffrey’s death. Cersei, meanwhile, is forced to face the consequences of the charges against her.
