Lioness Episode 9: Beware the Old Soldier

A cartel abducts Texas Congresswoman Hernandez from her home, killing her husband and son in the process, and Joe’s team is sent to bring her back in a dangerous cross-border extraction.

The episode opens with cartel gunmen breaking into the congresswoman’s house in Texas. They shoot her husband in the hallway and kill her young son before reaching the bedroom, where Hernandez has already escaped by jumping from the balcony. She runs into a field, but the cartel catches her, binds and blindfolds her, and throws her into a van.

After the kidnapping, the U.S. officials are briefed on the situation and decide to use the Lioness program to handle the recovery effort. Joe and Kyle are assigned to the mission, and the team is assembled for an open extraction rather than a covert one. The setup creates pressure because the operation has to happen quickly and across the Mexican border, with the political implications of a U.S. military-style rescue hanging over it.

Joe and the QRF team move into position near the border and track the cartel’s movements using Hernandez’s location signal. They wait for the right moment, then ambush the transport carrying the congresswoman in a fast-moving firefight. The team kills the cartel members guarding her and successfully pulls Hernandez out of the capture operation.

During the escape, the situation escalates into another pursuit and gun battle as the team fights to get Hernandez away from cartel forces and back toward safety. The episode ends with the extraction still unfolding, centered on the rescue effort and the team’s attempt to bring Hernandez home.
