My Hero Academia Episode 122: Katsuki Bakugo: Rising
The battle against Shigaraki and his arsenal of Quirks intensifies, as Bakugo considers his future and the true cost of heroism.
Full recap
Aizawa is forced to **cut off his own leg** after Tomura’s Quirk-erasing bullet hits him, and the battlefield collapses into a desperate last stand as the heroes try to stop Tomura before he can fully recover and escape control.
Tomura attacks the heroes with overwhelming force once Aizawa is compromised, pushing back Ryukyu, Endeavor, and Deku and trying to finish Aizawa off directly. Deku intervenes with Blackwhip to restrain Tomura, and Shoto arrives to help by blasting Tomura with ice. Aizawa loses consciousness, leaving the heroes without the support that had been suppressing Tomura’s power.
Elsewhere, the evacuation effort continues in chaos as news spreads that multiple cities now need urgent evacuation, and the giant approaching Tomura shows no sign of being stopped by the sedative the heroes used on it. On the battlefield, Deku uses Blackwhip and the newly awakened **Float** to keep Tomura airborne and prevent him from using Decay effectively. He is visibly straining to keep the fight going as Tomura resists and the situation grows more desperate.
Bakugo then jumps into the fray, using explosive movement to launch himself toward Deku and Tomura and taking Shoto and Endeavor with him as well. Shoto keeps cooling Endeavor while they close the distance, and when they reach Tomura, Endeavor grabs him and unleashes a massive flame attack in an attempt to finish him. At that moment, Tomura screams in pain, but the body is suddenly overtaken by All For One’s influence, and black, blade-like tendrils erupt outward. Those tendrils pierce Endeavor, and when more are sent toward Deku, Bakugo throws himself in the way and is impaled instead, saving Deku at the cost of taking the blow meant for him.
A flashback then explains Bakugo’s connection to the moment. The episode shows a memory of All Might speaking with him during training, and Bakugo’s thoughts make clear that he has been trying to keep up with Deku and prove himself in the middle of this battle. As the fight continues in the present, Bakugo is seriously wounded, but the episode ends on the image of him pushing himself into the line of danger when Deku needs help most.
