My Hero Academia Episode 149: Light Fades to Rain

Bakugo’s full-power **Howitzer Impact** fails to stop Shigaraki, and Shigaraki immediately overwhelms him, crushing his arm and cornering him with both brute force and taunting words.

As Shigaraki moves in for the finishing blow, the other heroes scramble to protect Bakugo, and **Mandalay** cannot reach Deku because the battlefield’s electromagnetic interference disrupts communications. Shota calls for anyone who can to save Bakugo, but Shigaraki toys with him, kicking him upward and seizing him by the throat.

The **Big Three** of U.A. then step in to rescue him. **Mirio Togata** uses his permeation to rush Shigaraki, **Nejire Hado** and **Tamaki Amajiki** join the attack, and the trio briefly coordinate an offensive that forces Shigaraki to react. Nejire draws his attention while Tamaki launches a poison-based strike from behind, and for a moment it appears they may have found a weakness when the toxin begins to spread. That hope is quickly dashed when a mouth forms near the infected area and neutralizes the poison, showing Shigaraki can adapt to the attack.

Mirio manages to get Bakugo out of Shigaraki’s grip, but he cannot actually damage the villain, and the two reach a stalemate because Shigaraki cannot land a clean hit on Mirio either. Bakugo, badly injured and still refusing to give in, begins reflecting on his own growth, his past attitude, and his relationship to All Might and Deku, which steadies his resolve. Using a new understanding of his Quirk’s movement and speed, he launches back into the fight with renewed determination.

Bakugo’s renewed assault lands some hits, but Shigaraki quickly adapts to his enhanced speed and continues pressing him hard. By the end of the episode, the battle turns devastatingly grim as Shigaraki pierces Bakugo’s heart, ending the episode on that shocking moment.
