My Hero Academia Episode 170: My Hero Academia

A prologue shows a ragged young boy escaping the wreckage of his old home and wandering into the streets of a restored Japan, where the sight of ordinary people living peacefully only deepens his sense of isolation and resentment. The story then jumps eight years forward to a spring day at U.A. High School, now busy and active again.

At U.A., Izuku Midoriya is now working there as a teacher, and the school feels fully alive with students and staff going about their day. The episode then shifts to the past, where Izuku and Mirio Togata visit Eri in the hospital for the first time since the incident that left her under medical care. Eri has asked to see them, and the visit is arranged through Shota Aizawa.

Inside the room, a nurse expresses concern about whether it is safe to stand near Eri, but the doctor explains that her Rewind energy has settled low enough that it will not run out of control. Izuku apologizes for not visiting sooner, and Mirio brings fruit as a gift. Eri says she never learned the name of the boy who saved her, so Izuku introduces himself. She then apologizes for the trouble caused because of her and blames herself for Mirio losing his power. Mirio refuses to let her take that blame, telling her everyone is simply glad she is safe.

Even after hearing that, Eri cannot bring herself to smile, and Izuku realizes that the abuse she suffered still weighs heavily on her. He then gets an idea: he asks Aizawa whether Eri could attend the School Festival. Mirio helps sell the idea by describing it as a day full of events, crowds, and food, especially candied apples, which catches Eri’s interest. Aizawa calls Principal Nezu to get approval, and Eri agrees because she wants to see the people who came for her.

The episode also introduces a new villain, Gentle Criminal, as he robs a store while easily brushing aside the heroes who try to stop him. He speaks theatrically, saying he wants history to remember his name, while his partner La Brava records and supports him. Later, on a rooftop, La Brava reports that the robbery video is barely getting any attention. Gentle accepts that he will need to do something much bigger to be noticed, and he says he is still searching for whatever will make him extraordinary.
