My Hero Academia Episode 35: Yaoyorozu: Rising

The episode continues the U.A. students’ final practical exam, showing several teams trying to either capture their assigned teacher with handcuffs or escape through the gate. The main focus is on Momo Yaoyorozu and Shoto Todoroki’s difficult battle against Shota Aizawa, where Momo must overcome her hesitation and take the lead.

Tsuyu Asui and Fumikage Tokoyami are first up against Ectoplasm. The fight pushes Tokoyami into a situation where he cannot rely on close-range combat, so he and Asui have to use teamwork and clever positioning to get past the teacher’s clones and reach the exit. They succeed in capturing Ectoplasm and pass the exam.

The next match features Mashirao Ojiro and Tenya Iida against Power Loader. Using their movement, coordination, and speed, they manage to break through and clear the test as well.

Momo and Todoroki then face Aizawa, who quickly neutralizes direct attacks by using his quirk to shut down their abilities when he looks at them. Momo is initially overwhelmed and doubts herself, while Todoroki tries to force a path through on his own.

Momo then starts thinking strategically instead of hesitating. She recognizes that they need more than raw power, and she begins creating materials and tools to support a plan. Todoroki follows her instructions, and the two coordinate their movements carefully to work around Aizawa’s ability.

Their plan culminates in Momo using threads she creates as part of their trap, with Todoroki setting them up by using fire so the material hardens and can restrain Aizawa. Once Aizawa is bound, Momo and Todoroki are able to place the handcuffs on him and pass the exam. This is presented as a major turning point for Momo, who finally proves she can perform under pressure.

After that, Ochaco Uraraka and Yuga Aoyama begin their exam against Thirteen. The episode ends with their match just getting underway, setting up the next stage of the final exams.
