My Hero Academia Episode 52: Create Those Ultimate Moves

Izuku dreams of his meeting with All Might at the beach, where All Might reaffirmed his commitment to Izuku's training. He wakes up, momentarily disoriented by his new dorm room at Heights Alliance, and heads to the bathroom. There, he brushes his teeth alongside Tenya, Shoto, and other classmates. Afterward, Class 1-A eats breakfast in the dining area, and Izuku reflects on his first few days in the dorms.

During homeroom, Shota Aizawa informs the class about their next challenge: obtaining their provisional hero licenses. He highlights the difficulty of the exam, noting its roughly 50% passing rate, and explains that the class will spend time developing ultimate moves. Cementoss, Ectoplasm, and Midnight enter the classroom to further explain the importance of ultimate moves. Class 1-A then changes into their hero costumes and gathers at Gym Gamma to begin training.

At Gym Gamma, Shota reveals another name for the facility, "Training Dining Land" or "TDL," which confuses the class. Cementoss clarifies that he designed the TDL, using his Quirk to manipulate the concrete floor to create various environments and scenarios, thus "catering" to each student's needs. Tenya abruptly asks why ultimate moves are necessary for the Provisional Hero License Exam. Shota responds that the exam tests many aspects of being a Hero, and Midnight emphasizes the particular importance of fighting ability, where ultimate moves are crucial. Ectoplasm cites Tenya's Recipro Burst as an example of an ultimate move, stating it poses enough threat to be classified as one, much to Tenya's delight.

Shota tells the class they will spend the rest of the summer perfecting ultimate moves and considering costume upgrades. The class begins training by fighting Ectoplasm clones. Mashirao uses his tail in combat, but the Ectoplasm clone tells him he is being too predictable, fighting exactly as expected for someone with a tail. Mina attempts to shoot a jet of acid from her palms, but it only travels a few feet. The Ectoplasm clone suggests she form a nozzle with her fingers to increase the acid jet's velocity and range. An Ectoplasm clone challenges Momo to create two items simultaneously, which she does with ease. Izuku observes his classmates, telling his Ectoplasm clone that he is unsure how an ultimate move would work for him, as his arms are vulnerable to damage if he overuses his Quirk. The clone advises Izuku to simply focus on developing his Quirk for the day.

All Might appears at the gym entrance, having come because he had nothing else to do. He immediately notices Izuku struggling to conceive an ultimate move. Katsuki, on the other hand, explosively defeats his clone and demands Ectoplasm create another. Ochaco, practicing self-levitation, Rikido, powering up with cake, and Toru comment on Katsuki's impressive ability and power. All Might approaches Izuku, telling him he is trying too hard to imitate All Might, before moving on to advise Eijiro.

After the first day of training, Izuku heads to the Development Studio for a costume upgrade. Tenya and Ochaco accompany him; Tenya seeks an upgrade for his radiator to cool his engines, and Ochaco wants a function to reduce her nausea. Suddenly, an explosion from within the Development Studio blows Izuku away. When the dust clears, Izuku finds Mei lying on top of him. Both he and Ochaco are shocked and embarrassed by her exposed cleavage being close to Izuku's face.

Mei apologizes for the explosion and greets the students, though she doesn't remember their names. Izuku coyly introduces himself, while Tenya angrily reminds Mei that she used him for product advertisement during the U.A. Sports Festival. As Mei walks away to continue developing her "babies," Izuku mentions their desire for costume upgrades, which greatly excites Mei. Power Loader invites the three into the Development Studio. As Izuku explains his desired upgrade, Mei forces him to try on a powered suit she made. The suit twists Izuku's body around because its operating limits were not programmed correctly.

Mei continues to cause trouble for the three students, giving Tenya arm engines that send him into the ceiling. Mei argues that this "baby" allows Tenya to run with his arms while his legs cool off. This suggestion inspires Izuku to realize he can use his legs for combat if his arms are so vulnerable to excessive Quirk use. Power Loader apologizes for Mei's self-centered temperament but also explains that she is an exceptionally talented engineer who will likely assist them in their future Pro Hero careers. Power Loader's praise of Mei's unconventional thinking further prompts Izuku to reconsider his combat style. Ochaco mentions she would like a costume upgrade to better control the nausea caused by her Quirk, but not before Mei causes another explosion with a different invention.

Four days later, Minoru and Izuku discuss the upgrades made to Izuku's suit. Minoru suggests Izuku could have used the opportunity for a cosmetic change. Izuku replies that he doesn't want to alter the base too much because his mother designed it for him.

Back in Gym Gamma, Fumikage demonstrates his ultimate move to Midnight, which involves Dark Shadow enveloping him like armor to compensate for his weaknesses in close-range combat. Katsuki also showcases his new ultimate move, AP Shot, where he focuses his explosive power on a smaller surface area, allowing it to penetrate a thick concrete wall. A piece of the wall Katsuki just broke crumbles and falls towards All Might. Katsuki and Shota warn All Might, but Izuku, with Full Cowl activated, jumps out. Izuku destroys the falling wall with a single kick, revealing a new move he names "Full Cowl - Shoot Style." As Katsuki and Shota look on in surprise, All Might smiles at Izuku in approval.
