Rick and Morty Episode 74: The Rick, the Mort & the Ugly

Rick and Morty stumble into the wreckage of the Citadel and briefly encounter a quiet western-style settlement of Rick and Morty clones before the episode shifts focus to that world’s residents. A farming Rick, living a simple homestead life, goes into town to buy supplies from a Morty-run shop, only for a gang of rogue Ricks to attack, kidnap the town’s Mortys, burn the settlement, and leave him for dead.

The surviving Rick, still alive after the shooting, discovers his home destroyed and sets out for revenge with help from two Mortys from town, including one who runs the arcade and another friend. The trio track down the raiding Ricks, killing several of them as they go, but the journey turns costly when the Morty companion is fatally wounded.

The survivors are eventually captured by the gang’s leader, a larger Rick who is trying to rebuild a new Citadel by using the kidnapped Mortys. He reveals his plan to restore a Morty-cloning system and re-create the old power structure. The farming Rick then turns the tables, escapes the setup, frees the captive Mortys, and destroys the new Citadel effort from within.

By the end, the western settlement’s surviving Morty figures are left to decide what to do with the freed clones, while the farming Rick’s ordinary life has been shattered beyond repair.
