Attack on Titan Episode 10: Response: The Battle for Trost (6)

Marco prevents a traumatized soldier named Daz from taking his own life after witnessing comrades being devoured by Titans. When Sasha complains of stomach pain and requests to go to the infirmary, the soldiers remain on standby as cannon fire erupts in the distance.

Eren transforms into a Titan to shield Armin and Mikasa from a cannon blast, but his incomplete form quickly weakens and begins to dissipate. As he emerges from the Titan's body in the resulting smoke, Eren theorizes that his transformation was incomplete because he focused solely on blocking the cannonball. He reveals two possible plans to his friends: first, to become a fully-formed Titan and return to Wall Maria; second, to have Armin convince the Garrison that he is humanity's ally, allowing them to stay and fight together.

Armin realizes that Eren and Mikasa have never viewed him as a burden—Eren credits him with saving their lives five years ago by telling Hannes to pursue them when Titans attacked. Motivated by this realization, Armin agrees to attempt the persuasion.

Armin steps out of the smoke to face Captain Woermann and the assembled soldiers. He argues that the Titans viewed Eren as prey rather than an ally, pointing out that all soldiers witnessed Eren fighting the Titans. Despite Armin's testimony, Woermann, overwhelmed by fear, refuses to believe him and orders the soldiers to prepare for an attack.

Undeterred, Armin salutes and swears to die for humanity's cause, proposing that they fight alongside Eren's Titan ability to recapture Trost and destroy the Titans. His unwavering conviction and willingness to stake his life on his words begin to shift the soldiers' perspective.
