Attack on Titan Episode 65: The War Hammer Titan

Willy Tybur bids farewell to his family before the festival. He had previously discussed with Theo Magath the possibility of an attack during his speech. Willy explains that his family has been working to improve the standing of Eldians globally, but they realized their enemies had crossed the ocean and arrived in Liberio. Willy suspects conspirators aligned with Paradis Island are present. He reveals his plan to use himself and Marleyan military leaders as bait to draw out their enemies during his speech in the internment zone. Magath expresses concern about the potential loss of life, but Willy dismisses it, stating most casualties would be Eldians and suggesting Magath could place "useless" Marleyan officers in the danger zone.

Willy questions Magath's sudden concern for Eldian lives, given Magath has sent many to their deaths before. Magath remains hesitant about risking Willy, but Willy insists that without his speech, military leaders, journalists, and ambassadors from various countries would not gather. He emphasizes the importance of Eldians, including himself, appearing as victims of an "unseen attack" to gain global sympathy. They shake hands, agreeing to the plan and acknowledging that both Eldians and Marleyans are "devils."

In the present, Eren, in his Attack Titan form, kills and consumes Willy. He then attacks the stands in front of the stage. The crowd flees in panic, but a general named Calvi remains immobile and is killed. Colt urges Gabi and Udo to run, but they are distracted by the sight of Zofia's crushed body. Colt grabs Gabi, but Udo attempts to rescue Zofia and is trampled to death by the stampeding crowd. Colt and Gabi take refuge behind a rock.

Lara Tybur observes the chaos and transforms into the War Hammer Titan to confront Eren. Eren strikes first, punching her and knocking her down. Magath, watching from afar, is informed that the War Hammer Titan is at risk, General Calvi and other military command are presumed dead, and the Warriors are missing. His men urge him to evacuate VIPs, but Magath fires a rifle to signal a counterattack from Marley and orders his men to prepare for battle.

The War Hammer Titan impales the Attack Titan with a large spike from the ground. Colt and Gabi stop running, with Colt carrying Udo's injured body. Colt is unsure if Udo is alive but insists they go to the hospital, lamenting Falco's absence.

Pieck and Galliard, trapped in a pit, feel the rumblings of the battle. Pieck deduces that Titans are fighting and that this is why they were lured away. A Panzer Unit rescues them. Pieck reveals she took precautions after noticing a soldier suspiciously following them. The rescuers inform them of the battle between the War Hammer and Attack Titans. Pieck orders armor for the Cart Titan. Galliard attempts to join the fight, but Pieck stops him, asking him to observe. They are then shocked to see a group of people advancing with anti-personnel omni-directional mobility gear.

The Attack Titan breaks free from the spike. The War Hammer Titan attempts to strike it with a hardened hammer, but the Attack Titan narrowly dodges. Marleyan soldiers then fire cannons at the Attack Titan. Magath states that killing the Attack Titan would only postpone the problem and announces they will help the War Hammer Titan consume Eren, as soldiers prepare anti-Titan artillery. Lara uses her hammer to destroy the Attack Titan's head. As Lara prepares to execute Eren, he calls for Mikasa and other soldiers to attack the War Hammer Titan, destroy the artillery, and kill the Marleyan soldiers. Mikasa lands near Eren and tells him to come home.

Magath, hiding in a building, orders a Marleyan army division and offshore fleet to seal off the internment zone, emphasizing that no "island devils" or the holder of the Attack Titan should escape. He reflects that the invaders' fates are sealed, as they have incurred the wrath of nations that lost officials, and the world now knows the threat of the Eldian Empire, all according to Willy Tybur's plan. However, he realizes the enemies likely know this, and as he considers their next move, a bomb explodes near him.

The Scout Regiment blows up the room. Marleyan soldiers on roofs are shot by Scouts using pistols attached to their anti-personnel omni-directional mobility gear. Jean throws a soldier off a roof and notices another building exploded. He scolds Floch and other Scouts preparing explosives, reminding them to minimize civilian casualties. Floch replies that everyone in the internment zone is an enemy, having killed many people from the Walls, and states that Eren is an example of what they need to do.

Mikasa questions Eren atop the headless Attack Titan, asking if he understands that he has killed civilians, including children, and that it cannot be undone. Eren does not answer, instead pointing out that the War Hammer Titan is still alive. Mikasa is shocked to see the Titan standing, despite her certainty of destroying its nape. The War Hammer Titan fires a hardened pike, and Mikasa quickly grabs Eren, fleeing the Attack Titan's body and narrowly avoiding the attack. Eren devises a plan to defeat and consume the War Hammer Titan and asks Mikasa to distract it.

Outside a hospital, Colt begs a doctor to treat Udo, but the doctor refuses, stating beds are full and Udo is dead. Colt places Udo's body on the ground and tells Gabi to stay with her family and get away from the plaza while he looks for Falco, assuring her the Warriors will defeat the invading Titans. Gabi refuses, stating she will fight because she doesn't understand why Udo and Zofia were killed. She runs towards the battle zone, with Colt unable to stop her. Gabi requests to join a convoy of reinforcements, but gate guards tell her to go home. The area is then attacked by the Scout Regiment with bombs and bullets. A guard tells Gabi to run but is killed by a sniper. Gabi spots the sniper, Sasha, on a nearby roof.

Conny joins Sasha, announcing they have blocked a street, but Sasha reminds him to light his lamp. Conny places a lamp, and they leave. Gabi, infuriated by the deaths of people she knows, grabs a rifle left by a fallen guard. Conny, Sasha, and other Scouts join Jean and Floch, reporting they handled enemy reinforcements. Jean confirms they did the same in their area. Sasha adds the lights are in place. Jean concludes the plan is progressing, provided they disable the War Hammer Titan in time, but the outcome beyond that is unknown.

As Mikasa fights the War Hammer Titan, Eren remembers its body materialized from its feet up, deducing its human body is underground where it first appeared. Transforming back into the Attack Titan, he sees a hole in the street with a long cable of flesh connected to the War Hammer Titan's left heel. Eren reaches into the hole and grabs Lara's crystallized body, which was controlling the Titan. Eren severs the connection, and the War Hammer Titan's body falls inanimate.

As his allies watch, Eren attempts to devour Lara but is interrupted by Galliard as the Jaw Titan, who attacks from behind. Galliard tries to retake the Attack Titan and kill Eren, but his cheek is slashed before he can fully bite the Attack Titan's nape. He sees Levi, who nearly killed Zeke. Eren tries to grab Galliard, who almost escapes onto a building but is stopped by a Thunder Spear fired by Mikasa, sending him falling. On the ground, Galliard is shocked as the Scout Regiment regroups and flies towards him, confused by their lack of fear. As they encircle him, he wonders how these humans can charge him with murderous intent and proclaims them the devils of Paradis, as Levi flies in to finish the fight.
