Attack on Titan Episode 66: Assault

A person named Pieck arrives in a Titan form, using gunfire from a unit mounted on her back to drive away soldiers from a person named Porco. Meanwhile, a person named Lara uses the power of her War Hammer Titan to impale a Titan controlled by Eren, who is holding a hardened crystal Lara is using for protection. Eren blocks the attack on his neck by hardening his Titan's arm, but the rest of his Titan body is lifted into the air in a tree of hardened Titan flesh. Other soldiers and Titans regroup as a large, ape-like Titan arrives.

A short distance away, a boy named Falco climbs out from between the hands of an armored Titan, having survived a building collapse with a person named Reiner. Falco witnesses the battle and, upon seeing Eren, recalls how Eren deceived him.

Falco climbs back between the armored Titan's fingers to apologize to an unconscious Reiner. Confused as to why Reiner hasn't healed, Falco realizes Reiner's weakened will to live is affecting his regenerative abilities. He asks Reiner to wait and reassures him that he has friends.

As the battle continues, Eren tries biting into Lara's crystal but only breaks his Titan's teeth. He recognizes the hardening is similar to something he's seen before and that he won't be able to break it himself. He also realizes Lara must be exhausted, otherwise she would have finished her attack. Eren concludes she must be out of options, but he is not. He abandons his current Titan body and jumps down to create a new one.

Porco despairs that Eren can still create another Titan body, but Pieck assures him that their side controls the battlefield because their opponents have limited weapons and fuel, having arrived using specialized gear without a supply line. She states that the area should be surrounded by now, cutting off any escape. Porco is still worried about a powerful Titan being present, but Pieck tells him to focus on protecting the ape-like Titan from a person named Levi.

While looking for help, Falco encounters a person named Magath and tells him about Reiner. Before he can bring Magath to Reiner, a girl named Gabi catches up with them.

In the harbor, a fleet of ships attempts to dock for reinforcements. A ship captain notices a small fishing boat and orders it back to shore. A sailor removes his hood, revealing himself to be a person named Armin. He stares at the ship before transforming into a colossal Titan, causing a massive explosion visible from the city that destroys the fleet and port. Seeing this stolen Titan in action, the other side realizes their opponents did not come unprepared. This prompts Porco to charge towards Eren, and the soldiers attack Pieck and the ape-like Titan while they are separated from Porco.

The ape-like Titan suddenly falls from an attack to its nape by Levi, landing in front of Magath, Falco, and Gabi. Levi lands on the ape-like Titan's head, preparing an explosive, and Magath pushes the two children down to cover them.

Meanwhile, Pieck and her mounted unit struggle against the soldiers. One of Pieck's machine guns is silenced when a person named Sasha shoots a person named Carlo in the head. Pieck tries to avenge him, but a person named Jean leaps over a roof's edge and fires a spear-like weapon into her Titan's eye. He then directs the rest of his squad to attack her.

They follow up with a barrage of spear-like weapons, killing the remaining mounted unit. Pieck scrambles out of the carnage and falls over the edge of the roof, crashing down in front of Magath, Falco, and Gabi. Jean swoops down to finish her, but Falco runs between them, shouting for him not to shoot. Jean is clearly bothered by the interference but decides to fire anyway. His spear-like weapon misses its mark, and Jean is uncertain if it was due to steam from the damaged Titan or his own conscience.

Pieck emerges from her Titan, badly wounded, and tells Falco to run away. The soldiers try to finish her, but Magath rallies the soldiers around him to protect her. He sends Gabi to help Falco, and the two of them carry Pieck to cover.

At the port, Armin looks at the devastation he caused, including human casualties, and sadly wonders if this is what someone named Bertholdt once saw. He exits his Titan and uses his specialized gear to grapple to a point above him.

Seeing his comrades down, Porco flies into a rage and lunges towards Eren, biting off the Attack Titan's hand and swiping at its face with his claws, ripping out one of its eyes. Eren blocks the second attack using Lara's crystal, and to his surprise, Porco's Titan claws leave deep scratch marks in it.

Inside a building, Pieck's regeneration is slow, and Gabi asks about Reiner, who is still underground behind the stage. Falco, knowing what Reiner has endured, suggests leaving him out of the fight, which Gabi doesn't understand, given how many people Eren has killed, including their friends Udo and Zofia.

Above the city, an airship follows guide lights set up by the soldiers. In the cockpit, a person named Hange plans to pick up their soldiers, but they only have one chance, and any stragglers will be left behind. Hange finds the plan reckless and asks Armin if he was possessed by someone named Erwin.

Spotting the airship, Porco tries to attack their escape method, but a person named Mikasa catches him off-guard and slices off the legs of his Titan, leaving him stunned in front of Eren. Eren further batters Porco's Titan, ripping off its arms before jamming Lara's crystal into Porco's Titan's mouth. He then lifts Porco's Titan high into the air and uses its jaws to crush the crystal, killing Lara. The resulting blood and spinal fluid flow into Eren's Titan's mouth, and Eren gains the power of the War Hammer Titan. He then incapacitates Porco's Titan by brutally slamming its head into the ground. Realizing that Porco will be eaten next, Gabi and Falco desperately call for Reiner to help.

Across the battlefield, within the hands of the armored Titan, a barely conscious Reiner hears their screams and is frustrated when they do not stop. Angered that they will not allow him to die in peace, Reiner transforms into the armored Titan, getting Eren's attention and saving Porco's life.
