Attack on Titan Episode 75: Above and Below

Floch and other Jaegerists escort Hange when they hear a distant explosion. Hange identifies it as a Thunder Spear explosion.

Nearby, a severely injured man named Zeke slowly dies from his wounds. After he dies, one of the large, humanoid creatures he created regenerates, crawls to his body, rips open its abdomen, and shoves Zeke's corpse inside.

In Shiganshina District, Yelena and the Jaegerists have rounded up Commander Pyxis and other military members, tying different colored cloths around their arms. Pyxis assumes this is to identify who drank tainted wine and who might be a threat. Yelena glares at Pyxis, stating that since they don't trust Zeke, they must be punished.

Meanwhile, several Scouts, along with Nicolo and the Braus family, are in a prison cell. Conny asks Armin if he can use his large, armored form to escape. Armin replies that he could, but it would destroy the entire town due to its lack of precision. Jean asks why Eren attacked Armin at a restaurant. Armin explains that Eren verbally hurt Mikasa, so he retaliated. Mikasa prevents Armin from elaborating further when Jean presses for details. Jean suspects Eren had a deeper reason for his actions and wonders if Eren has another plan.

Yelena, Onyankopon, and Greiz arrive outside the cell. Yelena greets the prisoners as heroes. Conny yells at Onyankopon for siding with Yelena, but Onyankopon is unsympathetic, noting he was recently under house arrest himself.

Jean suspects Yelena is pleased because much has gone according to Zeke's plan: they attacked Marley, gained Eldian support, and used wine spiked with spinal fluid to control the military. He believes that with the Founding Titan, they can destroy Marley and get revenge, calling this the true reason for their arrival on Paradis Island.

Onyankopon states they civilized this island, which was a century behind. Greiz mocks them. Nicolo calls Greiz a rat who betrayed them. Greiz, unrepentant, expresses his dislike for hearing about Nicolo's affection for Sasha and insults her. Yelena swiftly shoots Greiz in the head, then bows and apologizes to the imprisoned soldiers. She states she has no use for anyone who curses Eldians as devils and clarifies that the Anti-Marleyan Volunteers' goal is not revenge, but to save both Eldia and Marley from a cycle of hatred. Yelena then explains Zeke's euthanasia plan to them.

In a prison cell, a girl named Gabi is surprised when Eren appears with two Jaegerist members. Eren orders her to cooperate if she wants a boy named Falco to survive. One of the soldiers then stabs the other in the throat. The attacker is revealed to be a woman named Pieck, who then holds Eren at gunpoint and closes the cell door.

Pieck aims her pistol at Eren and orders Gabi to take the dead soldier's rifle and point it at Eren. She tells Eren to take his hands out of his pockets. Eren points out that if she truly wanted to shoot him, she would have already done so. Pieck's mission is to capture the Founding Titan, meaning she cannot kill him without consuming him, which would doom her and her family. Pieck lowers her gun, claiming another reason she couldn't fire: if Eren possesses the Founding Titan, he might be able to defeat Marley.

Pieck explains to Eren why she became a Warrior and her desire to show her father a bright future before her term ends. To achieve this, she says she needs to crush Marley and is willing to help. Beside her, Gabi struggles with the fact that Zeke orchestrated the attack on Liberio and now Pieck is also talking about betrayal, questioning what they have been fighting for.

Pieck asks Gabi if they are Marleyans or Eldians. Gabi replies they are Honorary Marleyans, but Pieck corrects her, stating they are Subjects of Ymir, an inescapable truth. She explains that no matter what they claim, they are people who can turn into Titans. As they both saw at Fort Slava, Titans in warfare will soon be obsolete. When that happens, Marley will have no use for the Eldians in the Internment Zone, and they will all be killed. Pieck asserts that they can keep trying to prove they are "good Eldians," but Marley will exterminate them before ever setting them free, so they must secure their own future, even if it means getting their hands dirty. Gabi is shocked by this.

Hearing this, Eren asks Pieck to prove her willingness to help him. She offers to show him where the other infiltrators are in the town, but they must go to the roof for her to point them out. Eren accepts.

In their cell, the captured Scouts process the euthanasia plan's implications for the Eldian race. Yelena calls it a peaceful end. When Jean points out that the population will eventually dwindle to nothing but the elderly, leaving their country unprotected, Yelena states they will still use the Rumbling as a deterrent. The royal family and the Founding Titan will be maintained, and a woman named Historia already has a successor. The Founder will only need to be passed down until that child's lifetime ends.

Jean is skeptical the plan will work. Yelena admits there are no absolute guarantees but is certain Zeke and Eren will end the Titan threat, leaving an impact on human history. As Armin cries at the plan's nobility, a soldier notifies Yelena of enemy infiltrators.

The Jaegerists don anti-personnel ODM gear, making enough noise that a man named Nile Dawk notices the commotion from his cell, where he is held with Falco Grice and other dissenting soldiers.

Eren leads Pieck and Gabi upstairs through the main hall. Pieck waves at the crowd of Jaegerist soldiers below, which includes a disguised man named Porco. As they continue up the building, Eren reveals that Falco is also being held there and has been affected by Zeke's spinal fluid. Pieck asks Eren if he knows why Zeke has that special ability and if he knows any other secrets, as she doesn't feel Zeke has been entirely upfront with his fellow Warriors.

They reach the roof before Eren answers. Pieck and Gabi head outside. Yelena warns Eren not to trust Pieck. Eren says he doesn't, and the feeling is mutual. He then tells Pieck to point to the enemy's position.

Pieck clasps Gabi's trembling hand and smiles at her, then turns and points at Eren.

The roof beneath Eren rumbles, and large jaws emerge through the stone, attempting to bite him. The Jaw Titan fails to capture Eren, severing his legs at the knees. Eren transforms into his Attack Titan before the Jaw Titan can attack again. The Jaw Titan lands on the roof, protecting Pieck and Gabi from the force of Eren's transformation.

Gabi is surprised that Pieck did not actually betray Marley. Pieck tells her that while she doesn't trust Marley, she trusts her friends. She tells Gabi to look up. Above them is a fleet of airships led by a man named Magath. Magath sees the smoke signal from Pieck and the Jaw Titan, notifying the Marleyan military that they have found the Founding Titan. He declares it is time for revenge for Liberio, as Eren prepares to face them.
