Breaking Bad Episode 10: Bit by a Dead Bee
Walt and Jesse become short on cash when they try to cover their tracks. Meanwhile, the DEA has a lead that could them straight to Walt and Jesse.
Full recap
After burying Tuco Salamanca’s gun in the desert, Walter White and Jesse Pinkman split up to create separate alibis for their multi-day disappearance. Walter hitchs a ride into Albuquerque in a pickup truck, while Jesse stays behind.
Walt enters a supermarket and walks naked through the aisles, appearing weak and delirious as a clerk follows a trail of his discarded clothes. He is hospitalized and claims to have no memory of the past few days, suggesting his chemotherapy and medication caused a fugue state. The hospital finds no physical abnormalities but forces him into a psychiatric evaluation due to concerns about another fugue episode. Under the protection of doctor-patient confidentiality, Walt admits to the psychiatrist that he remembers everything and simply wanted to escape his life for a while; the doctors agree to release him.
Meanwhile, Jesse returns to his house to clean the basement and remove the RV where they manufactured methamphetamine. Badger helps him, and they tow the broken RV using Badger’s “cousin’s” truck, though Jesse lacks the money to pay the fee. Jesse and Badger set up a motel room with a prostitute named Wendy to create a false alibi. DEA agents, led by Hank Schrader, locate Jesse at the motel and arrest him. Hank reveals he tracked Tuco and found Jesse’s car near Tuco’s house after killing Tuco, but Jesse insists he was with Wendy for the entire weekend. Wendy corroborates his story.
The DEA brings in Hector Salamanca, Tuco’s uncle, to identify Jesse. Hector refuses to cooperate, instead defecating in his wheelchair in front of the agents. With no evidence or witnesses to contradict Jesse’s alibi, the DEA releases him. Jesse attempts to contact his parents, but they refuse to help. That night, Walt convinces Jesse to resume cooking meth. Later, Hank receives a gift at the DEA station: Tuco’s gold tooth grill, encased in a clear acrylic box.
