Breaking Bad Episode 14: Negro y Azul

Walter White visits Jesse Pinkman, who has been staying inside and smoking marijuana since witnessing the murder of Spooge, and learns that Jesse did not kill Spooge himself but that the drugged-out girlfriend did. Walt is initially horrified by the murder but calms down when he realizes Jesse is not the killer and cannot be identified. When Jesse refuses to distribute meth to his dealers—Badger, Skinny Pete, and Combo—Walt takes over the delivery himself. At the meeting, Walt discovers that the dealers are afraid of Jesse due to a street rumor that he killed Spooge, giving Jesse an intimidating reputation as a "badass killer". Walt uses this newfound reputation to convince Jesse to expand their operation, telling him to play along with the myth and act like a "blowfish" who looks threatening.

Jesse later meets with Badger, Skinny Pete, and Combo, embracing his new street cred by declaring they are now the "kingpins of ABQ" and can sell wherever and whenever they want. He instructs them to recruit their own dealers to expand the operation and increase profits, planning to scale up their business.

Meanwhile, Skyler White, facing financial constraints, applies for a job at her former company and meets with her old boss, Ted Beneke. Ted hires her back as an accountant in the accounting department, revealing he recently separated from his wife and showing obvious sexual tension with Skyler. Walt becomes concerned about Skyler working there, especially since she originally left due to health problems from the company's manufacturing.

In El Paso, Texas, Hank Schrader struggles to fit in at the DEA office, particularly because he does not speak Spanish and his former behavior doesn't convince his new colleagues. During a meeting with a cartel informant nicknamed "Tortuga," Hank loses his patience with the man's demands and apparent disrespect. Later, while waiting in the desert for a meeting, Hank spots a grotesque message from the cartels: Tortuga's severed head mounted on top of a tortoise with "HOLA DEA" written on it. As agents laugh at the display, the tortoise blows up, injuring three of Hank's colleagues.

Jesse connects with his landlady, Jane Margolis, over their shared love of art while she draws on their front steps. However, a passing motorcyclist recognizes Jesse by his real last name, having heard of his reputation. After Jesse admits to lying to Jane about his identity, she says she doesn't care what he does as long as he doesn't do it at the house. The episode opens with a folk song, "Negro y Azul," that tells the legend of "Heisenberg," signaling how Walt's criminal persona is growing in the public eye.
