Full recap

Jesse Pinkman wakes from a heroin-induced sleep to find his girlfriend, Jane Margolis, dead in bed next to him, having choked on her own vomit. He frantically attempts CPR, but she is already dead, and his panicked efforts are ineffective. Horrified, Jesse calls Walter White, who assures him everything will be okay and tells him, "I know who to call" while cradling his newborn daughter, Holly.

Walt contacts Saul Goodman, who sends Mike Ehrmantraut to Jesse’s apartment to remove all drug paraphernalia and cash, clearing the evidence. Mike smacks the shell-shocked Jesse to wake him, coaches him on what to say to medical investigators when they arrive, and instructs him not to mention Mike was there. Jane’s father, Donald Margolis, arrives at the duplex after leaving a voicemail warning Jane to be ready for rehab, and he discovers her body. Blaming himself for Jane’s death, Jesse runs off to a crack house. Walt finds the anguished Jesse, attempts to comfort him, and takes him to a rehab clinic.

At the White residence, Skyler and Walter Jr. are excited by donations to the SaveWalterWhite.com website, unaware the money is actually Walt’s laundered drug money. Skyler criticizes Walt for seeming unenthused about the apparent success. Meanwhile, Walt prepares for surgery to remove his cancer. On the day of the operation, as he is put under anesthesia, Walt groggily reveals he has a second cell phone, making Skyler suspicious.

After Walt is released from the hospital, Skyler tells him she has investigated his behavior over the past months and found he lied repeatedly. Her discoveries include that Gretchen never sent money despite their medical bills being nearly paid, and that Walt did not visit his mother. Skyler tells Walt he must move out; Walt offers to tell her everything, but she is too afraid to know and drives away.

Five weeks later, Donald returns to work as an air traffic controller despite still grieving Jane’s death. Sitting beside his swimming pool, Walt is startled by an explosion overhead. As he watches a mid-air collision in horror, a teddy bear lands in the pool.

(Note: As a first-time viewer, you would not know Walt’s role in Jane’s death, that the donations are laundered drug money, or that Donald’s grief causes the plane crash—these are only revealed through events shown in this episode.)
