Breaking Bad Episode 36: Open House

Walter becomes furious upon discovering a new surveillance camera installed in the meth lab, feeling his privacy invaded after his previous attempt on Gus's life. Meanwhile, Skyler visits Walter's condo, notices the black eye he received from Mike, and warns him that if he is in danger, she needs to know. To advance their plan of buying the car wash as a money-laundering front, Skyler and Walter meet with Saul Goodman, where Skyler convinces a reluctant Walter to proceed by revealing that the owner, Bogdan, previously insulted his manhood.

Skyler devises a scheme to trick Bogdan into selling at a lower price by hiring Patrick Kuby, a con artist acquaintance of Saul, to impersonate a United States Environmental Protection Agency representative. Kuby claims the car wash is being shut down due to toxic contaminants in the wastewater; although Walter doubts the plan will work, Bogdan cannot afford to replace his entire filtration system and begrudgingly agrees to sell the business to Skyler. The couple celebrates the purchase with expensive champagne, though Skyler immediately realizes that such high-class spending will attract attention and they need a new plan to explain Walter's expenses.

Jesse, still numb from killing Gale, attempts to clear his head with nostalgic go-kart trips but continues hosting increasingly dark, all-night drug-fueled orgies at his house to distract from his guilt. During these chaotic parties, Jesse deliberately throws piles of money into the crowd, watching addicts scrabble for it, while a man named Tyrus Kitt surveils the house from a nearby car.

Marie, frustrated by Hank's continuous cold shoulder and his difficult recovery, resumes her streak of kleptomania to cope. She visits several real-estate open houses under fake names, making up elaborate stories about her background while stealing items like a figurine and a spoon. After a real estate agent recognizes her from a previous incident and notices the missing spoon, Marie is caught and arrested, forcing her to call Hank for help. Hank pulls strings with his friend Detective Tim Roberts to get her out of being charged, and Roberts drops all charges.

Later, Roberts visits the Schrader residence to seek Hank's advice regarding Gale's murder investigation and hands him a photocopy of Gale's lab notebook. Hank initially shoves the notebook away but begins reading it later that night, becoming intrigued by the detailed plans for the crystal meth super-lab contained within.
