The episode opens with **Mike Ehrmantraut** riding in the cargo compartment of a **Los Pollos Hermanos** refrigerated truck when it is forced off a rural road by two armed hijackers. After the gunmen execute the driver and shoot up the truck, Mike ambushes them from behind boxes, killing both before stepping out to find a bullet has grazed his right ear, leaving a flap of flesh hanging.

Meanwhile, **Walter White** and **Skyler White** meticulously prepare a cover story to explain their purchase of the car wash and their ability to pay for **Hank Schrader**'s medical bills. Skyler insists Walt attend a **Gamblers Anonymous** meeting and rehearses a detailed script with him, teaching him card-counting techniques to support their lie that Walt won the money through gambling. During a family dinner at Hank and Marie’s, Walt and Skyler present this gambling story to Hank, Marie, and **Walt Jr.**; Walt is frustrated that Skyler portrays him negatively to his son, but Skyler argues that Walt Jr. already sees her as the "bitch mom" while Walt gets to be the man who won them money.

While pretending to use the bathroom, Walt enters Hank’s bedroom and discovers a case file on the murder of **Gale Boetticher**. Hank later reveals he is investigating Gale’s death and believes Gale was **Heisenberg**. When Hank asks Walt to read from Gale’s notebook, Walt sees a dedication to "**W.W.**" and a line from a Walt Whitman poem. When Hank notes the initials match Walt’s, Walt jokingly admits "you got me," then quickly deflects by claiming "W.W." refers to someone else.

Walt visits **Jesse Pinkman** to question him about the night of Gale’s death, only to find Jesse’s home has become a chaotic **crack house** with a party still going. Jesse is unable or unwilling to answer, admitting he did not pick up the shell casing from the shooting, which could connect him to the crime. Jesse’s meth money is stolen, but he appears unbothered by the loss. **Mike** quickly recovers the stolen $78,000 and returns it to Jesse, also delivering the tied-up thief with a bag on his head. The next day, Jesse does not appear at the lab. Walt realizes Jesse has been **kidnapped** when he finds Jesse’s house empty and his cell phone left behind. The episode ends with **Mike driving Jesse** into the desert to an unknown destination, trapped with Mike.
