Full recap
Walter White and his wife Skyler attend the lavish birthday party of Elliott Schwartz, Walt’s former college lab partner and co-founder of Gray Matter Technologies, where Walt feels out of place among Elliott’s wealthy peers and brings only a package of ramen noodles as a gift. During the party, Walt is introduced to Elliott’s wife, Gretchen, a former romantic partner of Walt’s, and later feels deeply uncomfortable when Elliott offers him a job at Gray Matter with excellent health insurance, realizing Skyler must have told Elliott about his cancer. Walt angrily declines the offer and confronts Skyler for exposing his illness to people from his past.
Meanwhile, Jesse Pinkman, struggling to find legitimate work, attends a job interview that turns into a humiliating advertising gig where he must dress as a giant dollar bill; he quits after seeing his old friend Badger, a man on parole, holding the same position. Badger encourages Jesse to start cooking meth again, claiming he can secure a large supply of the key ingredient. Jesse and Badger attempt to cook in the RV they once used as a lab, but Jesse’s product is cloudy and inferior compared to the crystal-clear meth he made with his former partner. Frustrated, Jesse discards multiple batches, leading to a violent fight with Badger over the wasted product; Jesse pushes Badger out of the RV and drives away, leaving him stranded in the desert.
Back at the White home, Skyler organizes a family intervention with Hank Schrader, Marie Schrader, and Walt Jr. to pressure Walt into undergoing chemotherapy. Walt Jr. is angry that his father refuses treatment despite everything he’s endured, while Hank and Marie argue that Walt should have the choice to decline if he wants. The intervention escalates when Marie and Skyler clash over the right approach, and Walt ends it by stating he does not want to spend his final months too sick from chemo to enjoy life.
The next morning, Walt has a change of heart and tells Skyler he will accept treatment and use Elliott’s check to pay for it. Gretchen calls Walt, insisting he accept the money, but Walt lies and says his insurance will now cover the costs. Finally, Walt goes to Jesse’s house and asks if he wants to cook again, offering to resume their partnership.
