Full recap

At a family barbecue, Walter White reluctantly reveals to his brother-in-law Hank, sister Marie, and son Walter Jr. that he has lung cancer, after his wife Skyler breaks down in tears and forces the confession. Meanwhile, DEA agent Hank Schrader leads a briefing revealing that their missing informant Krazy-8 was the one who betrayed his cousin Emilio, and that the meth found in Krazy-8’s car is 99.1% pure, suggesting a new Albuquerque kingpin.

Jesse Pinkman shares the remaining meth with his friends Skinny Pete and Combo, but the drug causes him to hallucinate that Mormon missionaries at his door are armed bikers, forcing him to flee his house in panic. Skyler arranges an appointment with top oncologist Dr. Delcavoli, whose visit costs $5,000; Walter agrees to pay using his pension but secretly takes $4,000 from the cash he and Jesse hid in an air-conditioning duct. When Walter Jr. sees him retrieving the money, Walter deflects by claiming he was looking for mice, prompting his son to angrily question his nonchalant attitude toward the cancer.

Walter visits Dr. Delcavoli, who says the cancer is potentially curable but treatment will cost $90,000; Walter refuses, fearing he’ll leave his family with debt if he dies. The next day, Jesse visits Walter to propose making more meth, but Walter angrily rejects the idea and kicks him out. Jesse then returns to his parents’ house, where they find a marijuana joint in his room and immediately kick him out, assuming it’s his. As Jesse leaves, his younger brother Jake thanks him for covering for him and asks for the joint back; Jesse disposes of it, calling it “skunk-weed”.

Later, while Walter waits to park at a credit union, an obnoxious man named Ken steals his spot with a shiny BMW bearing the vanity plate “KEN WINS”. Inside, Ken annoys Walter further with a loud, inappropriate cell phone call. When Ken leaves his car unattended, Walter uses a squeegee to short the car battery, causing it to catch fire and explode as Walter walks back to his own car.
