Full recap
Light meets with Near over a phone call, where Near proposes a direct confrontation on January 28th at 1:00 PM in an abandoned warehouse, with Light's side bringing a Death Note for Near to inspect under strict conditions: no stealing it, and Light chooses who holds it. Light agrees to the terms, confident in his victory, while Near believes he holds the advantage based on Teru Mikami's predictable movements after midnight.
That evening, Light dines with Kiyomi Takada and secretly instructs her to kill Near at the first opportunity.
The next day, Takada attends a red carpet event surrounded by paparazzi. A red car driven by a man in goggles—later revealed as Matt—speeds toward the crowd, deploys a smoke grenade to create chaos, and allows a motorbike rider in a helmet and feather scarf—Mello—to grab Takada and flee, despite protests from her bodyguard Lidner, who sends chase vehicles.
Mello fends off pursuers, escapes into an alley, handcuffs Takada, and conceals her identity with a helmet before transferring her to the back of a semi-truck he drives away.
Takada secretly contacts Light via phone from inside the truck, begging for rescue and describing her capture. Light deduces she is alone and instructs her to "carry out judgments as usual," which she reluctantly confirms after writing the driver's—identified as Mello—name in a Death Note scrap, causing his fatal heart attack and crashing the truck into a building.
Guards at an intersection corner Matt's car after his involvement; he exits calmly, wonders aloud about Takada's security, and is gunned down without mercy.
Takada, now trapped amid the wreckage, calls Light again for help, providing her location via nearby road signs. Light, with detectives Aizawa and Ide, races to the scene in a car. En route, Light uses a hidden Death Note scrap in his watch to write instructions causing Takada to set herself, her surroundings, and all her writings ablaze, ensuring her death by suicide before they arrive.
