Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Episode 22: Master of the Mansion

Tanjiro and Nezuko, in her wooden box, are brought in chains to the Demon Slayer Corps headquarters for a trial before the Hashira, the Corps' elite swordsmen. Bound and kneeling, Tanjiro faces immediate hostility: the **Wind Hashira, Sanemi Shinazugawa**, a scarred man filled with rage, stabs Nezuko's box repeatedly to provoke her, drawing Tanjiro's fury.

The **Sound Hashira, Tengen Uzui**, flamboyantly offers to decapitate Tanjiro with a spectacular blood spray, while the **Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku**, loudly declares protecting a demon a clear violation warranting execution. The **Insect Hashira, Shinobu Kocho**, calmly asks Tanjiro to explain his actions but is interrupted by the others' demands for justice.

Tanjiro headbutts Sanemi after breaking free momentarily, impressing some Hashira like the **Serpent Hashira, Obanai Iguro**, who notes the Water Hashira **Giyu Tomioka**'s distraction allowed it; Giyu had earlier intervened against Sanemi's aggression. Tanjiro defiantly stands before Nezuko's box, declaring any Hashira unable to distinguish good from evil demons should quit.

The arrival of the Corps leader, **Ubuyashiki Kagaya**—a blind, sickly man guided by two young aides—halts the chaos; all, including Tanjiro forced face-down, bow in reverence. Ubuyashiki reveals scars from a family curse, praises Tanjiro's growth under Sakonji Urokodaki, notes Tanjiro's unique encounter with a powerful foe tied to the demons' source, and reads Urokodaki's letter stating he, Giyu, and Tanjiro will commit seppuku if Nezuko harms humans.

Despite Ubuyashiki's plea for acceptance due to Nezuko's potential value against demons and lack of proof she'll attack humans, Sanemi refuses, slicing his forearm to drip blood onto Nezuko's box and taunt her. Nezuko groans as blood seeps in but resists; someone notes sunlight prevents demon action, so Sanemi throws the box into shade, stabs it more, and unlocks the door.

Nezuko emerges with an angered glare, facing Sanemi directly as the episode ends.
