Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Episode 57: Water Hashira Giyu Tomioka`s Pain

Tanjiro visits Giyu at his home after receiving a letter from Kagaya asking him to speak with the Water Hashira, who has refused to take part in the Hashira Training. Giyu initially brushes him off and tells him to leave, but Tanjiro persists and keeps trying to start a conversation.

At the same time, Kagaya’s Kasugai Crow appears before Tamayo and invites her to the Demon Slayer headquarters, despite the fact that she is a demon. Elsewhere, Yushiro senses that Tamayo may be in danger.

Back with Tanjiro and Giyu, Giyu eventually gives in to Tanjiro’s persistence and begins explaining why he will not join the training. The episode then shifts into Giyu’s explanation of his own pain and reluctance, showing that his refusal comes from deep personal doubt and burden rather than simple stubbornness.

As the conversation continues, Tanjiro tries to understand Giyu’s feelings and keep him talking, while Giyu slowly opens up about the source of his isolation. The episode focuses less on action and more on this emotional exchange, with the central development being Tanjiro reaching Giyu enough for him to start sharing what has been weighing on him.
