Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Episode 6: Swordsman Accompanying a Demon
Tanjiro is now clad in the uniform of the Demon Slayer Corps. His Nichirin Sword on his hip, and Nezuko, now awake, in a special box made by Urokodaki on his back, he heads out for his first assignment. A town to the northwest where girls have been vanishing nightly. There, Tanjiro meets Kazumi, haggard with worry after his girlfriend's been abducted. Though he does catch the scent of a demon nearby, there's just no demon in sight. Tanjiro is sure that a demon is behind this sinister incident...
Full recap
Tanjiro arrives in a northeastern town plagued by disappearances of young women. He meets the distraught Kazumi, whose girlfriend Satoko vanished days earlier, and the townspeople express widespread fear.
Kazumi leads Tanjiro to the abduction site, where Tanjiro detects a spike in the demon's scent. He tracks it to a house, witnessing the demon—capable of liquefying and sinking into floors and walls—abduct another girl through a door.
Tanjiro stabs his sword into the floor, forcing the demon to drag him underground, but he rescues the girl and hands her to Kazumi for safety. The demon splits into three bodies, each with distinct personalities, attacking from multiple directions.
Tanjiro counters with Water Breathing Eighth Form: Waterfall Basin Rush, slashing them in a torrent, but the attack fails to decapitate them fully. From the ground, he attempts another slash, but it lacks power against their resilience.
The demons mock the group, revealing a collection of hairpins from past victims—including Satoko's ribbon—enraging Tanjiro and filling Kazumi with dread as he begs for her return.
Overwhelmed, Tanjiro struggles to protect everyone. Nezuko bursts from her wooden box to join the fight, surprising the demon, who questions why a swordsman travels with a demon.
Flashbacks reveal Urokodaki equipping Tanjiro with his black Nichirin sword—rare and associated with weak swordsmen—a special uniform resistant to demon claws and fangs, and Nezuko's box. Urokodaki explains using hypnotic suggestion on Nezuko during her sleep to make her view humans as family and demons as enemies; he also mentions all demons originate from Muzan Kibutsuji, whom Tanjiro must find to cure Nezuko.
