Dexter Episode 36: Do You Take Dexter Morgan?

Dexter and Rita are days away from their wedding, but the celebration is shadowed by danger as Ramon and George King both close in on Dexter. Dexter discovers that Rita had a brief marriage before her relationship with Paul, after overhearing her mother’s comment that “third time’s the charm,” and he quietly investigates it through official records.

The main external threat comes from George King, who chases Dexter by car, forcing Dexter to lure him into crashing before Debra later identifies the driver. Meanwhile, Ramon is furious about Miguel’s death, shows up at a wedding dinner armed, and points a gun at Dexter before being arrested. Dexter later visits Ramon in jail and learns that Miguel had used him as a bodyguard, which helps soften the tension between them; Dexter even decides not to use Ellen’s ring to blackmail Ramon after they make peace.

As the wedding approaches, Dexter is kidnapped by King the night before the ceremony and taken to an abandoned factory. There, King tries to force answers out of him about Freebo, but Dexter turns the situation around by admitting he killed Freebo and taunting King. Dexter breaks his own hand to escape, then kills King by snapping his neck just as police arrive after tracing the kidnapping to the factory. He leaves the body in a way that makes it look like King died in a confrontation with police.

Despite learning about Rita’s earlier marriage, Dexter chooses not to mention it to her. The episode ends with Dexter and Rita getting married, and Dexter promising to be the best husband and father he can be while imagining Harry and Laura watching over him as they dance.
