Dexter Episode 65: The Angel of Death

Dexter traces a clue from the angel wings at the latest Doomsday crime scene to a specific glue used in art restoration, which leads him to a museum and to Travis Marshall, a man he realizes was present near the earlier killing site. While Dexter quietly investigates on his own, the wider police response begins focusing on Professor Gellar as the likely Doomsday Killer, and Travis is pushed into helping with the group’s next planned “Whore of Babylon” kill.

Dexter follows the lead into the museum and sees Travis working there in a restoration-related setting, confirming Travis’s connection to the case. He later searches Travis’s home and finds research materials that tie him to the murders, including notes and religiously themed material connected to the victims and the killers’ tableaux.

Dexter then confronts Travis directly and forces him to drive while interrogating him about the murders. Travis insists that he is not the one in charge and says Gellar is the real mastermind, claiming he cannot carry out the killings himself; Dexter believes him enough to spare him and let him go, hoping Travis will lead him to Gellar.

Meanwhile, Travis and Gellar attempt to carry out another staged murder. Travis first tries to abduct a woman on his own and fails, then Gellar steps in and helps him kidnap another woman for their next ritual killing. Elsewhere, Angel Batista and Quinn question Gellar’s assistant, Carissa Porter, who is uncertain whether Gellar is truly the Doomsday Killer; Quinn and Carissa flirt, and later have sex, which annoys Angel.

Masuka hires a new intern, Louis, and privately recruits him to help recover the Ice Truck Killer’s prosthetic hand from an auction site; Louis fails to locate the hand but deletes the search history so the evidence hunt won’t leak. Debra is reprimanded by Jamie after Harrison sees graphic crime-scene photos, and Debra decides to start therapy as a result.

Brother Sam also appears in the episode, and Dexter talks with him in a personal conversation before the episode ends with Brother Sam being shot by an unseen assailant as he opens his shop.
