Dexter Episode 69: Get Gellar

Dexter frees Travis from the church restraints, then keeps him at a hotel while he searches for James Gellar on his own. At Miami Metro, Debra pushes back against LaGuerta and insists on reopening the call-girl case, while Angel and Batista deal with Quinn’s missing gun and cellphone after his night with a stripper.

Dexter follows a clue from Gellar’s church and connects the phrase “2LOT” to the second law of thermodynamics, which leads him to Professor Trent Casey, an atheist lecturer he believes is Gellar’s next target. He races to warn Casey, but Casey is already kidnapped before Dexter and Travis can stop anything.

Meanwhile, Travis is attacked in a frightening message left by Gellar, who writes a bloody warning on Travis’s wall and leaves Casey’s hand behind, telling him to bring “the false prophet.” Dexter and Travis then head to the church, with Dexter entering separately so he can search the building while Travis goes in to meet Gellar at the front.

Inside the church, Dexter finds Travis unconscious and discovers a hidden passage leading to a basement below the altar. He goes down and finds only a freezer, but when he opens it he discovers Gellar’s frozen corpse, revealing that Gellar has been dead the whole time. As Dexter starts to realize that Travis has been seeing Gellar as an internal figure, Travis wakes up, picks up a sword, and moves toward the basement.
