Dexter Episode 70: Ricochet Rabbit

Dexter is trapped in the basement beneath the abandoned church while Travis talks to the body of Professor Gellar as if he were alive, and Dexter realizes that Travis has been acting alone and that Gellar was already dead. Travis eventually leaves the church, and Dexter escapes, then uses Gellar’s hand to leave fingerprints around the basement to make it look as though Gellar is still involved.

Debra and Miami Metro continue closing in on the church, while Dexter uses his blog to post that he is giving up on the case in hopes of luring Travis out. Travis then connects with a religious couple, Steve and Beth Dorsey, through Gellar’s blog and brings them into his plan.

The trio kidnaps Holly Benson, the woman Travis had previously spared, and prepares her for the next tableau, “Wormwood,” which Travis imagines as a deadly poison gas attack. Dexter traces Holly to a yacht called the Ricochet Rabbit, where he finds the aftermath of the killing: Holly is dead, and one of Travis’s followers in a hazmat suit attacks him. Dexter fights back and kills the man, only to discover that it is Steve, not Travis.

Meanwhile, Angel goes to Beth’s house to ask about Steve’s interest in Gellar’s blog, and before he can react, Travis knocks him unconscious. Travis then decides to move forward with the poison attack at Miami Metro, making the threat much larger than a single murder.

Back on the yacht, Dexter finds the ingredients for the Wormwood poison and realizes the gas is ready to be released. Forced to abandon his usual code, he calls the police and reports the yacht’s location and the poison threat so they can stop Travis before the gas is used on Miami Metro.
