Dexter Episode 82: The Dark... Whatever

Dexter spends the episode split between two threats: the ongoing investigation into the **Phantom Arsonist** and the sudden arrival of **Hannah’s father**, who comes looking for money and makes himself a danger to her and Dexter. By the end, Dexter chooses to let the arson suspect go to the police and then kills Hannah’s father himself.

Miami Metro responds to another arson murder, and Dexter studies the scene while trying to identify the killer. He notices that Detective **Phil Bosso** seems oddly indifferent, briefly suspects him, and then clears him when he learns Bosso is involved in Civil War reenactments. Later, Dexter’s own investigation points him toward **Joseph Jensen** as the possible arsonist, but instead of acting immediately, he decides to bring the case to Miami Metro.

At the same time, Dexter is spending time with Hannah and talking with her about his “Dark Passenger,” a term she does not understand in the way he means it. Their conversation is interrupted when Hannah’s estranged father **Clint** shows up unexpectedly. Clint wants money, threatens to expose Hannah, and clearly pressures her with information from her past. Dexter becomes increasingly alarmed as Clint’s behavior escalates, and Hannah is forced to deal with the situation directly.

Elsewhere in the episode, **Quinn** gets drawn into a separate violent conflict while trying to defend **Nadia’s** honor, and the situation becomes dangerous for him. **LaGuerta** continues her quiet Bay Harbor Butcher investigation and brings **Matthews** in to help her.

When Dexter has the chance to kill the arson suspect, he does not go through with it and instead calls Miami Metro to take over. But after dealing with Hannah’s father, Dexter decides Clint is a different kind of threat and abducts him, takes him out to the ocean, and kills him by dumping his body there. Dexter returns to Hannah afterward, and the two of them confess their love for each other.
