Dexter Episode 95: Monkey in a Box

Dexter cleans up Dr. Vogel’s house after her murder, removes anything linking him to her files, and calls Miami Metro to report the death. He tells Angel and Quinn that he already found Vogel dead, while hiding Saxon’s involvement.

Deb returns to Miami Metro as a detective and takes part in the effort to track Saxon down. Dexter, still planning to leave for Argentina, tells Angel he wants out of Miami Metro, but he is also determined to deal with Saxon before he goes.

Saxon appears at the station to clear his name in Cassie’s murder investigation, and Dexter takes a DNA swab from him. After getting the sample, Dexter discovers information showing that Saxon used a demolition permit to gain access to an abandoned hospital, which he realizes is likely Saxon’s hideout.

Dexter visits the abandoned hospital and finds signs that Saxon has been using it. He also finds evidence on Saxon’s laptop that helps confirm Saxon’s crimes and gives him leverage to draw Saxon out.

Meanwhile, Hannah prepares to leave Miami with Harrison, but she is being followed by Elway. Dexter and Deb share a final meal together, and Deb asks why Dexter is leaving Saxon to the police instead of killing him himself.

Dexter manages to lure Saxon to his apartment by making him think he is vulnerable there. With Deb helping from the side, Dexter subdues Saxon and takes him to an isolated location to hand him over to the police rather than kill him.

At the last moment, Dexter chooses to let Miami Metro arrest Saxon instead of carrying out the kill himself. Clayton follows Deb, interferes with the arrest, and Saxon uses Clayton’s gun to shoot Deb before escaping.
