Dexter Episode 94: Goodbye Miami

Dexter spends the episode trying to close out his life in Miami while also trying to trap Oliver Saxon before leaving for Argentina with Hannah and Harrison. Debra strongly disapproves of the plan, while Vogel is torn between helping Dexter and protecting Saxon, whom she still sees as her son.

Vogel makes breakfast for Saxon, and he coldly tells her she cannot call herself his mother. She offers to get him treatment at a psychiatric facility, but he refuses, blames her for Richard’s death, and accuses her of choosing Dexter over him before storming out. Dexter continues digging into Saxon’s history and discovers signs that he has moved through multiple countries over the years, suggesting he kept killing after leaving the facility. Dexter asks Vogel to help him catch Saxon, but she cannot bring herself to turn against him because of guilt over sending him away.

Dexter then breaks into Vogel’s computer to access Saxon’s files, including footage tied to the murders of Zach and Sussman. After showing Vogel Zach’s murder video, he horrifies her enough that she finally agrees Saxon needs to be killed. At the same time, Dexter is making goodbyes at Miami Metro, including giving Batista his notice, and he tells Debra he is leaving for Argentina. Debra is upset by both the move and his plan to kill Saxon. Clayton becomes suspicious that Dexter is really leaving Miami to be with Hannah, and Debra returns to Miami Metro while rekindling things with Quinn after his breakup with Jamie.

Hannah is hiding out at Debra’s house to avoid the authorities, but she also tries to maintain life with Harrison. Harrison later falls off a treadmill and hurts his chin, forcing Hannah to take him to the hospital. There, a nurse recognizes Hannah, which puts Clayton on her trail. Dexter, meanwhile, prepares for the final confrontation and goes to Vogel’s house when Saxon visits her. Saxon notices Vogel is afraid, and when Dexter is approaching, Saxon calls out from inside the house and is seen with Vogel at the window. Saxon then slits Vogel’s throat and escapes. Dexter arrives too late and is left holding Vogel’s body as she dies in his arms.
