Full recap

A little girl and her mother are killed in their home by a creature that appears to be an elderly woman, establishing the town’s nighttime danger before the main story shifts to the Matthews family’s arrival.

Jim, Tabitha, and their children Julie and Ethan are driving in an RV when they hit a fallen tree blocking the road, forcing them to detour into a small town. They ask the local sheriff, Boyd Stevens, for directions, but as they try to leave they keep ending up back in the same town, making it clear they cannot escape by normal roads. While this is happening, a funeral is taking place in town for the mother and daughter who were killed earlier.

Boyd and Kenny prepare tire tracks on the road to help stop the RV if it loops back again, but before that can matter the Matthews family are involved in a collision with another car. The crash badly injures Ethan, pinning him in the RV with a rod through his leg, while Jim and Tabitha are separated from the scene as townspeople rush in to help before dark.

The passengers from the other car are taken back toward town: one man, Toby, is brought to the local infirmary, while the other, Jade, is left unconscious and taken away with the others. At the infirmary, a young woman named Sara is sitting beside Toby, and she later kisses him before killing him.

As night falls, Ethan is treated inside the RV by the town’s medical worker, Kristi, while Boyd stays with Jim and helps protect them. Boyd places a talisman in the RV window, and once darkness fully arrives, frightening figures gather outside and surround the vehicle, trapping the people inside through the night.
