FROM Episode 5: Silhouettes

Sara is brought to the clinic after a seizure, where Kristi checks on her and suggests she stay the night, but Sara refuses and asks that Nathan not be told or worried.

That night, Sara and Kristi talk, and Sara asks Kristi a disturbing question: whether Kristi would do something terrible if it meant everyone could go home. Kristi’s answer makes clear she is willing to consider a morally ugly choice if it could help the town escape.

At the Matthews house, Jim, Tabitha, and Ethan begin asking questions about where they are and start writing down everything they can think of on the walls, treating the situation like a mystery that can be mapped and solved.

The next day, Nathan looks for Sara, but she tells him she is fine. Shortly after, Sara heads toward the Matthews house carrying a scalpel she stole from the clinic.

Elsewhere, Fatima and Ellis take Julie to a hidden lake and try to show her the more enjoyable side of life in town.

Jade wanders through town with the radio, trying to make sense of what is happening and insisting that understanding where they are is the first step toward getting home.

Boyd seeks guidance, and Nathan looks for Father Khatri. Boyd also speaks to his wife’s grave, and the episode continues to show him wrestling with the town’s impossible situation.

Sara later plays outside with Ethan, then goes with Ethan and Tabitha to the barn to see the animals. There, she tells Tabitha about hidden places around town, lures her into one of the barn’s hiding spots, and traps her inside.

Sara then moves toward Ethan with the scalpel, but Nathan arrives and tries to stop her. Ethan manages to get away, and during the struggle Sara slashes Nathan’s throat, killing him.

Afterward, Ethan runs off and finds Julie, while Jim frees Tabitha from the barn. Sara escapes into the woods.

Back at the Matthews house, Tabitha writes another question on the wall: *did we survive the crash?*

The episode ends with Boyd reassuring Kristi that what happened with Sara is not her fault, just as the jukebox in the diner suddenly turns on, giving Boyd a new sign that something is happening.
