Game of Thrones Episode 25: Kissed by Fire

Robb Stark’s campaign loses ground when Lord Karstark kills the young Lannister prisoners in revenge, and Robb responds by executing Karstark himself, which causes the Karstark forces to abandon the northern army. Across the Narrow Sea, Daenerys marches with her army and hears from her advisers about the future of her conquest, while she also addresses the Unsullied about their freedom and their names.

At King’s Landing, Tyrion negotiates with Lady Olenna Tyrell over the cost of Joffrey and Margaery’s wedding, and the political bargain leads Tywin to reshape the marriage plans around Sansa. Cersei also begins looking for ways to counter the Tyrells and turns to Littlefinger for help.

North of the Wall, Jon Snow and Ygritte travel into a cave, where their relationship turns physical after Ygritte pushes Jon beyond his vows. On the road with the Brotherhood Without Banners, Arya watches a trial by combat in which Beric Dondarrion faces Sandor Clegane; the fight ends with the Hound winning and Beric being brought back to life, leaving Arya shaken and angry.

In the Riverlands, Jaime and Brienne are delivered to Roose Bolton, who has Jaime’s wound treated and sends Brienne away. During the bath sequence, Jaime tells Brienne the full story of what happened when he killed King Aerys, explaining that he broke his oath to stop the king from burning King’s Landing and to save the city and his father; Brienne is stunned by the confession.

In another Riverlands storyline, Shireen visits Davos in the dungeon and teaches him to read after he admits he cannot. Stannis and Selyse also have an awkward conversation in which she encourages his infidelity as service to the Lord of Light.
