Game of Thrones Episode 28: Second Sons

Arya wakes up on the road with the Hound and realizes he is not taking her back to King’s Landing, but toward the Twins, where he plans to ransom her to her family. When she tries to kill him in his sleep, he catches her and lets her take one chance at stabbing him, but she backs down and he warns her that if he survives, he will break her hands.

At King’s Landing, Tyrion Lannister and Sansa Stark are married in a large, hostile ceremony. Joffrey humiliates both of them during the feast, and when he tries to force a bedding ceremony afterward, Tyrion stops him by threatening him publicly, preventing Joffrey from carrying out his plan.

On Dragonstone, Melisandre brings Gendry to Stannis Baratheon, who has him taken into his custody. Stannis then goes to the dungeon to speak with Davos Seaworth, who has been reading in captivity. Davos objects to Melisandre’s influence and the idea of sacrificing Gendry, but Stannis remains determined; he makes Davos swear not to strike Melisandre again, then frees him and restores him as his Hand.

Across the Narrow Sea, Daenerys Targaryen meets the captains of the mercenary company the Second Sons outside Yunkai and tries to persuade them to join her instead of defending the city. The captains decide to send one of their own to kill her, but the man chosen, Daario Naharis, instead kills the other captains and comes to Daenerys in her camp, kneeling before her and offering his service.

Far north of the Wall, Samwell Tarly and Gilly stop at an abandoned hut. When Sam hears strange sounds outside, he goes out to investigate and is attacked by a White Walker that is trying to take Gilly’s baby. Sam stabs the creature with his dragonglass dagger, causing it to shatter, and he and Gilly flee the hut.
