Hunter x Hunter Episode 135: This Person x and x This Moment

Meruem, now aware that his time is limited, goes to the underground house where Palm is hiding and forces her to reveal Komugi’s location without threatening or torturing her. He kneels and pleads with her to tell him, and Palm finally agrees on the condition that she be allowed to watch the two of them together at the end.

While this is happening, the wider world begins reacting to the aftermath of the battle: Netero’s pre-recorded resignation as Chairman is made public, and the Hunter Association starts moving toward choosing a new president.

Palm leads Meruem to Komugi’s hiding place, where Komugi is waiting in a room with a Gungi board already set up. Komugi is initially confused about what has happened to her and assumes someone must have brought Meruem to her, but he tells her that one of his subordinates was responsible.

The two sit down and begin another game of Gungi. During the game, Meruem reminds Komugi that she once asked for his name, and Komugi breaks into tears, overwhelmed by how happy she is to be there with him.

Meruem tells Komugi that the poison he was exposed to in battle is contagious and that she may have been exposed to it by staying close to him. Komugi ignores the warning and keeps playing anyway, saying in effect that she was born for this moment and that Meruem was too.

Palm, watching from nearby, realizes the situation is unfolding exactly as she allowed, and she later tells Ikalgo that it is over. The episode then stays with Meruem and Komugi as they continue their game together, accepting the fact that their remaining time is short.
