Hunter x Hunter Episode 138: Request x and x Wish

The episode splits between the Hunter Association election and Killua’s return to the Zoldyck estate. The election still fails to meet the required turnout, while Killua learns the rules behind the strange power of the younger sibling he has come to see.

At the Hunter Association, the Zodiacs respond to the second failed vote by changing the election rules to try to reach the required 95% participation rate. The episode explains that the first and second rounds both fell short, so the process has to be redone. The revised rules are meant to prevent Hunters from gaming the system through absentee or invalid ballots.

The scene then shifts to Killua at his family home, where he asks permission to use the power of his younger sibling, Alluka, to heal Gon. Silva is initially reluctant, but he ultimately allows Killua to proceed. Killua is then taken into Alluka’s room, where he explains the conditions attached to the ability: after three requests are fulfilled, Alluka grants one wish, and the size of the next requests increases in proportion to the size of the wish granted. He also explains that the person who benefits from the wish is not the one who pays the price; instead, the burden falls on the next person who is asked to satisfy Alluka’s requests.

Killua further reveals the danger of refusing too many of these requests in a row: if four are denied, the refuser and the person they love most will die. The episode shows this rule being tied to the consequences of a previous wish, reinforcing that the power is not just miraculous but also deadly.
