Hunter x Hunter Episode 143: Sin x and x Claw

The election’s fifth vote still fails to produce a chairman, but the top eight candidates advance to the next round. At the same time, Killua is cornered by Illumi while Hisoka is slaughtering Hunters who are trying to track down the Needlemen.

The episode opens with the results of the fifth round of voting for the 13th Hunter Chairman election. The turnout is high enough to satisfy the required condition again, so the top eight vote-getters move on to the next stage, even though no outright winner has been decided yet.

Cutting away from the election, the story follows Killua and Alluka as they try to get away from Illumi. Illumi keeps pressing Killua to reveal the full nature of Alluka’s abilities, insisting that he is still hiding important details. Hunters sent to intercept Illumi are easily defeated, and the situation becomes increasingly dangerous for Killua’s group.

During the confrontation, Killua is forced to reveal one more rule governing Alluka’s power. He uses that opportunity to have Alluka heal Tsubone’s injured hand, showing that the wish can be used without the sort of deadly consequence Illumi has been expecting. After the healing, Alluka collapses from exhaustion, and Killua makes it clear that he will not tolerate Illumi referring to her as an object again.

Illumi backs off for the moment, though he does not fully give up. He says he will not be satisfied until he understands everything Killua is hiding about Alluka. For the time being, Killua and Alluka are allowed to continue on their way.

Meanwhile, Hisoka is shown killing Hunters who are searching for one of the Needlemen. He calmly picks off the people pursuing the trail, treating the violence almost like entertainment.
