Full recap

Gon reaches the top of the World Tree and finally meets Ging, who has been waiting for him there. The episode centers on their long-awaited conversation, in which Ging explains why he became a Hunter and what he hopes to find beyond the known world, while Gon tells him about the adventures and people he has met on his journey.

The episode begins with Gon climbing the enormous World Tree, thinking back on his experiences as he ascends. When he reaches the top, he finds Ging among a nest of giant chicks, and Ging remarks that he had been waiting for him. The two start talking openly for the first time, with Gon asking questions and Ging answering in his usual blunt, curious way.

Ging explains that he became a Hunter because he wanted to find things he had never seen before and pursue the unknown. He tells Gon that the World Tree is not actually the full-grown giant it appears to be, but a sapling, and that the true world is much larger than the one most people know. Ging also describes how difficult it is to reach places beyond the familiar map, requiring resources, access, and permission that most people do not have.

During their conversation, Gon returns the Hunter License that Kite had given him, giving it back to Ging, its original owner. Gon then shares stories about his travels and the friends he has made, speaking about his journey with genuine warmth. The exchange gives him the honest father-son conversation he has been seeking, and Ging’s words make clear that his future remains tied to exploring the wider world.

The episode also shows brief closing scenes of several other characters continuing with their lives and goals. Mito receives a letter from Gon, Morel and Knov share a toast in Netero’s memory, and other characters are shown moving forward on separate paths. The final montage emphasizes that while their journeys diverge, the bonds formed during the story remain.
