Full recap
Gon, Killua, and Zushi continue their intensive Nen training with Wing. Wing introduces them to Hatsu and explains the six types of aura: Enhancement, Transmutation, Conjuration, Emission, Manipulation, and Specialization. He emphasizes the importance of understanding one's innate type and compatibility between types. Wing uses examples like a fighter named Kastro, a man named Gido, and Hisoka to illustrate his points. He explains that Hisoka's ability to make his aura rubber-like indicates he is a Transmuter. Gido uses his aura to enhance the spinning and force of his tops, which is an Enhancer ability, but his need to manipulate many objects suggests a Manipulator skill, which is incompatible with Enhancement. Kastro's "Tiger Bite Fist" was likely an Enhancement ability, but his creation of a doppelganger, a Conjurer ability requiring Manipulation, was incompatible with Enhancement, leading to a squandering of his talent.
Wing then demonstrates Water Divination, a method to determine a Nen user's aura type. Gon makes the water overflow, identifying him as an Enhancer. Killua makes the water taste sweet, indicating he is a Transmuter. Zushi causes a leaf on the water's surface to move, meaning he is a Manipulator.
After several weeks of continued training, Gon feels ready and schedules his fight with Hisoka. Wing announces that Gon has passed the secret Hunter Exam. Gon asks about his friends, and Wing informs him that Kurapika and Hanzo have already passed, while Pokkle is still struggling with Ren, and Leorio is studying for a medical exam. Wing explains that learning Nen is a crucial part of being a Hunter, enabling them to be strong and fight criminals. He also mentions that a person named Netero is the head of his school of Nen. Wing encourages Killua to take the Hunter Exam the following year, stating Killua is more than qualified.
On July 10th, Gon's match against Hisoka begins in a crowded stadium. Gon immediately charges Hisoka, but Hisoka effortlessly dodges and blocks all of Gon's attacks without moving from his spot. When Hisoka remarks on his lack of movement, Gon becomes more determined. Gon demonstrates his power and agility by tearing up a flagstone and throwing it in front of Hisoka. Gon then shatters the stone, startling Hisoka, who punches the resulting rubble away. Gon disappears from Hisoka's view and reappears behind him, landing a solid punch to Hisoka's face.
