Hunter x Hunter Episode 87: Duel x and x Escape
After completing their training, Biscuit sends the exhausted Gon and Killua to face Knuckle. Looking at the condition of their opponents, Knuckle boasts that they could never move him an inch and bets his token on it. However His assumptions are proven wrong when Gon manages to land a powerful hit that knocks him out cold, and after awakening, Knuckle agrees that he will help them with their training until the deadline for returning the token comes. Meanwhile at the nest, Neferpitou focuses herself into reviving Kite for a second chance to fight him and Netero's team starts taking down small groups of Chimera Ants that bring the attention of the captains, while the king grows strong inside the queen's womb. As Gon and Killua spend their days training with Biscuit and sparring with Knuckle, Shoot, the second of Morel's disciples make plans about how to deal with them.
Full recap
The Chimera Ant Queen prepares for the King's birth, consuming 250 human meatballs daily. Gon and Killua continue their training to defeat Knuckle and Shoot. Palm watches them. After three hours of training, Gon and Killua collapse, but Biscuit immediately tells them to stand up. She informs them they are going to challenge Knuckle and that they only need to take his and Shoot's tokens, and can run if the situation worsens. They will now train Ren for three hours.
It is past midnight, and Knuckle is in the park with a puppy. He talks to and plays with the puppy until Gon and Killua arrive. He pushes the puppy aside and faces them, surprised they are children and thinking they underestimate him. Knuckle intimidates them, challenging them to a battle to the death and demanding they take it seriously, convinced they cannot defeat him. As they prepare, Knuckle begins to tear up. Gon asks why, and Knuckle denies crying, claiming they are tears from laughing too much.
Knuckle orders them to punch him to demonstrate his strength. He states they can punch him many times, and if he doesn't move, they must leave their tokens. Gon, knowing they are outmatched, steps forward to accept. He immediately begins charging his "Jajanken." Sensing Gon's intense aura, Knuckle doubts himself and panics, trying to decide which body part to protect, ultimately choosing his belly. Gon launches his attack, and Knuckle is seen lying unconscious a few meters away. Killua calls him an idiot.
The next day, Knuckle wakes up in a bed, seeing Gon and Killua training nearby. He apologizes for underestimating Gon. Knuckle reaches into his pocket and asks why Gon didn't take his token. Gon replies they want the strength to defeat him in a straight-up fight. Gon asks Knuckle why he became a Beast Hunter. Knuckle says it's a long story that brings back old memories. He calls Gon a good kid, and Gon returns the compliment. The puppy Knuckle befriended earlier is revealed to still be by his side, and Knuckle tears up again. They eat, and Palm peeks from the doorway, glaring at Knuckle. She is surprised when Knuckle absentmindedly compliments her cooking. Knuckle insists again that Gon and Killua won't be able to defeat him within the remaining twenty days.
In NGL, Morel and Knov execute their plan to reduce the Chimera Ant population by sending them through Knov's portal to be killed by Netero. Colt and Peggy discuss this problem. Colt deduces that humans are fighting back, and Peggy suggests moving the castle. Colt refuses, stating the Chimera Ant Queen should not be troubled. Peggy then suggests Neferpitou, who is busy reviving Kite's body. Pitou tells Colt and Peggy to handle things outside while Pitou protects the castle from within. Colt and Peggy leave Pitou to their experiment and proceed to assess their troops' strength. Twenty-eight squadrons remain, and the aggressive ones will be used as a trap.
Meanwhile, the Hunters conclude they should stick to their current plan, as it would eliminate another three or four squadrons. Back at the inn, Gon and Killua's daily training finishes. Knuckle is once again in the park, accompanied by three dogs. Gon and Killua arrive to challenge him again. The battle begins with Knuckle having the upper hand. In the shadows, Shoot watches closely.
